Hi - my first time here. I was going to join in last week but had visitors for Easter weekend and knew I would have to go out for extras like bread and milk. However, will aim for £10.00 this week. Only needed to buy the Daily Mail today for .45p but DH has just gone out so I asked him to get it for me - does that count or is it still spending?

i guess it depends on if you give oh the money for the paper! some folk count their oh's spends some don't. the challenge has a certain degree of flexability for you to decide your own rules. for example most people budget for food shop seperatly but I include it in this challenge...

Hi again everyone. Just to check something.

The amount that I have budgeted £10 is not everything that I will spend in the week. I have already budgeted for everything else (Electric, Gas, TV and even my weekly magazine at £1.99) and this £10 is just for things that are not on the budget like eating lunch out and buying that book you spotted and couldnt wait for....

Am I doing this correctly? Since ive started it (this is the 3rd week) I have not broken my budget once and actually have spent probally only £10 in total that wasnt already budgeted.

I have to say that this is better than my own personal spending diary as it motivates me to try and stay in the black ;)

this is how the majority of challengers do it, yes. As I mentioned in the above post there is some flexability in that you can include what you wish as part of your budget on here. I allow for my food shopping in this thread as well as random spends but most people only allow for the random stuff, magazines, lunches etc

a lot of folk feel like this which is why I started it in moozie's absence, I find now that I'm stood in shops thinking, 'I can't buy that moozie will never allow it!':rotfl:

I've only spent £11.89 last week so I came in under budget. This week is £20 :) thanks for doing this thread <3 x
