Great idea for a thread and just what we need to lift our spirits on a cold and damp bank holiday monday!

We've paid off about £17k since we got married 7 years ago, and are now in a position where, apart from occasional blips with credit cards and overdrafts (which we always manage to clear before they get out of hand), the only debt we have is a £5k car loan, which will be cleared in the next 2 years.

We're soon to start increasing our debt again though, as we will need a bigger house (and a bigger mortgage ). But I know we wont get out of our depths, because we have learnt our lesson where money is concerned.

Funnily enough I was just talking to my husband and I said to him, Ive just realised that we've paid more off our mortgage than off our debt this year. As we have a ten year mortgage we have paid £4,000 off it since we moved in last July. So I suppose thats pretty good going. :) Even though it would be nice to pay more off the debt I suppose we've paid off about £3,000. So not too bad.
