Applied for 18m, got the wait 14 days message, received the paperwork for the 18m offer and now got a 4000 limit.

    Good stuff.

Can anyone say how they got on with the 'guaranteed' acceptance card. This link was already posted by someone else in another thread:

It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!
  • Received a letter yesterday informing me that the 18 month postal offer had expired and I should ring them up to see what other offers are available. Rang them and got accepted for a 9 month 0% BT (the maximum they are currently offering they said), don't know the credit limit yet but they said that they try to match the card specified. In my this case this was my Egg green card.

P.S. There was a ref on my letter, C4, that I forgot to mention to them, maybe I might have got a better offer if I had mentioned it. Anyone else had this letter ?

I have 2 paper applications - one for 9 months which states offer expires 1st July 2005, and one for 18 months which states offer expires 1st August 2005. I am currently using my Egg anniversary period, which runs out in June, and was going to send off the 18 month application in the next few days. Does this mean I will get an automatic knock back??!!

Does my question about the 'guaranteed' card actually relate to this thread?

Hi Danjaq, I saw your other thread. This is a different card offering 0% for 18 months, and had a limited availability. The card you are after is different.

    Hope this helps.
If it was easy, everyone would do it!

Just got around to reading this thread. I applied by post (application form came with Sunday Mail) and in April received a credit limit of £8.5k with BT of 0% for 18 months.

Right! Time for some number crunching. First of all, thank you to everyone who helped. With 122 of us applying and responding to this poll, I think we ought to be able to get some meaningful figures. So here goes…

At least 122 people on this website applied for the card. Of those, 19 applied by post (are those fliers really that elusive) but the majority, 93, applied on the internet. It is difficult to say if post or email makes any difference to acceptance, but it doesn’t seem to. Most people on the internet got the 14 day message, but that doesn’t seem to be a bad thing as most were eventually accepted. The message probably just means that money savers like us are stressing their poor computer. Only one of us got instantly rejected on-line; unlucky, I’m sorry :(. Now, of all the people who applied:

    Accepted: 70 – 57%
    6-month: 34 – 28%
    Rejected: 8 – 7%
    Other: 10 – 8%

It seems rejection was low. In most cases where the 18-month card wasn’t offered, Capital One seems to have preferred to offer a 6-month card. 57% of people were accepted (and with good credit limits, unlike a certain Barclay card campaign), so it seems to indicate that the 18-month offer isn’t a blatant advertising ploy.

So, how much money are we talking about? It seems safe to assume £8,000 as an average credit limit. Based on this, with this offer alone, how much have we added to the national debt for the next 18 months? At the beginning, a great big £560,000 (70 x £8,000). I could buy a nice house with that! If all this were stoozed at 5% with 3% minimum monthly payments, interest on savings would be at least £33,500. Sweet! How nice of Capital One to share their huge profits.

Anyway, I’m happy, and it seems many of you are too. If you didn’t get the card, try again next time; it worked for me :). Happy money saving!

I'm amazed. Even though this thread has slipped down the pages, 9 more people have voted with 5 more people saying they were accepted. I don't think this will affect the statistics very much so I won't update the figures above. Anyway, thank you to everyone who took part; I hope you find these figures interesting.

    Thanks again.
