and thats why with the amount of info available on the net everyone researches before doing anything. Most of us woudln't think twice about using a cashback site or using a sites price guarantee to save a bit on a TV. why is it any different with tradesmen and larger household items?
If you were quoted a price and you agreed to the price, then there you go contract fulfilled.
I'm sure if you purchased something "mis-priced" on a site you'd be doing everything you could to ensure they supplied at that price and saved you that £££
Swings and roundabouts
You could speak to them and voice your concerns, they may do somethign out of goodwill but I wouldn't be expecting it unless theyve seriously misunderstood/misinterpreted your requirements/spec0 -
When I first looked at the post I thought that it was extortionate - But then I did a few rough calcuations in my little head;
Gas Safe registered installer for 8 hours and a trainee for £1500? Good price when, as pointed out many times before, that there are many other expenses to pay.
Imagine going into a hospital for a blood transfusion - the blood costs about £125 per unit, not very much at all. But then factor in the cost on you staying in the hospital for half a day - Nurse care, doctor care, cleaners, HCAs, Biomedical scientists, analysers and associated kits. It soon builds up to over £1000 for a single unit of blood.
As also said before, if you're not happy with a quote, do your research and go with someone else!30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.0 -

Hi.
If you punt round you may well find an installer who will pay YOU to fit a boiler.
In the MSE world, here's how it works.
Make sure you have a shed load of scrap metal in your house that needs stripping out.
Most boiler manufacturers give incentives to installers to fit their product. These can include exotic holidays, health care, massive brown envelopes stuffed with vouchers for jewellers so they can cover themselves in bling.
Add these two together and the installer is coming out well on top and can afford to incude you in his/her good fortune, so free install at the least;)
In the real world you get several prices, make your choice and pay up.

Hi guys, sorry i haven't been back on sooner. Thanks for the replies, even the not so nice ones, perhaps i have been a bit harsh on the firm who fitted it. I'm a lot wiser to the costs involved thank to the people on here. The only real issue i have now is with clanking pipes which i've addressed in another post, hopefully i'm being a bit more reasonable with that complaint. Thanks....Mick0
