Organic food in supermarkets

^ I've had the BK beanburger after a late night out with no food type of evening.. dread to look what's in it!
I can't remember getting a beanburger as such in America, I've had some dire experiences travelling as a veggie and also with inflight meals..
Back at home and being veggie/vegan involves quite a lot of cooking to have a healthy diet, it can be quite hard work at times not relying on the convenience veggie/vegan items. It's been nice to find a few reasonably ok organic vegan things lately.
I tried the G&B sea salt bar for the first time last night, liked this a lot!0 -
My mother is veggie and gets really annoyed by pub Christmas menus which offer all sorts of stuff for carnivores and pescatorians but offer her merely omelette or mushroom stroganoff for maybe £20.
There seem to be more (boring) veggie options on menus now but way fewer actual vegetarian restaurants. Brighton has several which are fantastic but it's a two hour trek for us

Selfridges is not the place to buy the bog standard G&B bars from obviously.. MSErs aka Miserswould check https://www.mysupermarket.co.uk as there have been a few offers lately.
If Selfridges' website seduces you into buying Christmas goodies from Daylesford please check Ocado as there's a shop within a shop and you can compare prices. Daylesford's own website can be used to compare prices and shipping too. https://www.daylesford.com
Tracklements products can be bought in Waitrose and at Ocado, possibly other places ?
Rococo chocolates are doing free delivery on orders over £50 during November (a deal for serious addicts or joint orders from friends/family). Again the organic Rococo stuff might be cheaper on https://www.rococochocolates.com
Sometimes other retailers undercut the brand/manufacturer and sometimes it's cheaper to buy at source. Shipping costs play a part too.
Kettle Chips fans !!!
Ocado doesn't have the new ridge chips but Iceland does !

Montezumas chocolates -- some are organic..John Lewis several choices including boxes of bars

Checking https://www.montezumas.co.uk will ascertain whether they are organic. Might be cheaper there but if you live near a Waitrose or John Lewis you might be able to do a click n collect free.
John Lewis also has organic beauty products ibcluding Neal's Yard, Tisserand and Dr Hauchska http://www.johnlewis.com/search/organic?_requestid=33373470 -

I did eat some this week actually
Not sure how new it is, it's in the mixed mini bar packs though.
There are some flavours I haven't had yet though!! They really need to bring out a box containing every single flavour.. (or do they?).There seem to be more (boring) veggie options on menus now but way fewer actual vegetarian restaurants. Brighton has several which are fantastic but it's a two hour trek for us
I love Brighton.. there are also some good sounding veggie/organic restaurants in Central London I want to try.
Too far for you unless you are ever up in SW London but this is my fave veggie restaurant (and does vegan, GF, wheat free, organic too). Great spot on the river too.

Kirri, Selfridges has it in a 100g bar which I've not seen anywhere, myself. To reiterate, for anyone wincing at G&B prices, ASDA does 100g bars of organic Fairtrade chocolate in its Extra Special range, for £1.
Kettle Chips fans.. 150g bag offers..
Ocado any 3 for 2
Waitrose any 2 for £2 to 03/12
Sainsbury's any 2 for £3 to 10/12
Tesco any 2 for £3 to 26/11
ASDA has 150g bags and 160g bags tortilla chips for £1, 5 x 30g bags for 1.50. Tesco and Sainsbury's have the 100g vegetable chips any 2 for £3 Tesco to 26/11, Sainsbos to 10/12.
I will have a look at the website thanks Kirri.. is that far from the Richmond Whole Foods ? I look at your photos and want to go to Whole Foods too <sulk>
I don't rate Mildred's in Soho, myself. https://www.mildreds.co.uk
Here's another veggie website http://www.vegalicious.org/
I am dumber than I think, it never occurred to me to post up veggie links. <blush> My mother lurves Moosewood cook books and has been to the resto in NY http://www.moosewoodcooks.com/ i must go rummage in my bookmarks now.. some have been lurking for years and may not work.0 -
I've not looked for it in a 100g bar but I will keep an eye out now out of curiosity.
It's not that far to RV from Richmond Wholefoods by car or 20-30 mins by number 65 bus or about the same by direct train (or both station are also on the same loop train from Clapham Jct).
I don't know Mildreds. I've been to Beatroot in Soho which I liked, don't think that was org though. There's one near Oxford Circus iirc which is organic and veggie but I can't remember the name at the moment.
Tempted by the Waitrose Kettle offer..0 -
Beatroot https://www.beatroot.org.uk in Berwick St
If you're into making anything with fabric you should have a look at Borovicks at #16 http://www.borovickfabricsltd.co.uk/ cos it's a real treasure trove. It's being going nearly 100 yrs I think and my grandmother and great aunt would go there. When I lived in London I would buy fabric and get my mother to make me party dresses from old patterns I found in charity shops.
Tibits in Heddon St is vegetarian.. http://www.tibits.co.uk/en/home.html

I've been to Food For Thought a few times and liked it but I don't go to veggie places much now because married to meat eater. Also been to The Wallace Collection for tea and it's lovely place. OH knows it well.
I nabbed the Kettle ridge chips at Iceland 120g for 75p.. OH has one bag to munch and the other one is for Christmas (some hope).0 -
Have saved link, I'm currently trying to win a sewing machine!
Just saw comp for new organic snack box, could be interesting organic rival to graze?

NB the study from University of Glamorgan was in 2004 so the article here may be an old one even though dated 2013 !!
It still looks like the only way to avoid GM totally is to eat organic. Iceland allows GM feed for everything, UK supermarkets now allow some GM feed for non-organic - even Waitrose
I'm going to try to keep organic for gluten free products as much as poss for OH.0 -
Great idea but OH is now hooked on 9 bars
He finds a lot of it too sweet.
Tip on avoiding VAT is to buy dried fruit and nuts from baking aisle not snack aisle in supermarket.0
