^ thank you. The GG one has sugar/salt on Ocado. Wish they wouldn't add it to a 'basic' ingredient.. seems more choice in plain sweetcorn in non org but no idea why.

Me neither, I just rinse it.

Dinner was a bit of a Dis.as.ter frankly. The Sainsbury's SO organic beef mince (on offer) was gristly and knobbly in places. Won't be buying that again. Deluxe Styrian pumpkin seed oil IGP (Lidl offer) has more than a passing resemblance taste-wise to soy sauce and made the shirataki noodles go green

I didn't eat beetroot till last year.. now I eat kilos of it (grows well, freezes well..).

Morrisons was always the best for Quorn prices, I used to get most things I wanted for £1 if I waited plus they always had the Roast cheap this month too. Not had any all year however, more as a trial more than anything. I've cooked with a lot more variety without it.. just dug out A&C recipes for no meat aubergine meatballs and mushroom bolognaise, both things I used to make with Quorn but can now make organically.

I'm going in search of the WF vegan nut roast tomorrow, see what's in it and what it looks like. I had a look on Ocado but they only had one nut roast with cheese in. (I may still cook the Mary Berry one with cheese in however).

Also going to look for organic pecans, chestnuts, dates, tahini, rapeseed oil (good for vegans apparently due to Omega 3 iirc).

For veggie mother at Christmas buffet I have ordered the 450g nut roast 4.99 from Riverford and the Organic Connexion brazil nut roast 350g 5.99 from Abel & Cole - she had this one last year and loved it. I thought I got a nut Wellington last year from A&C but if so, it's not available this year. Maybe I'm going nuts ;)

New at Sainsbury's...Taste The Difference nut roast with Feta 290g 2 portions per pack any 2 for £4 ATM, there's also TTD goat's cheese and beetroot bake, TTD vegetable and pearl barley risotto bake and TTD aubergine and smoked cheese bakes. They aren't organic, three out of four aren't vegan, one definitely isn't gluten free either. But they are approved by The Vegetarian Society.

First year we lived together we had both sets of parents over for Christmas and OH made a nut roast. Looked great but when we tried to slice it we realised he'd kept the nuts whole :rotfl:

OH really likes the Goodlife nut cutlets from Ocado which are any two for £3 at Waitrose until 03/12. Not organic but additive and preservative free, vegan, gluten free, use Fairtrade nuts and Vegetarian Society approved. https://www.goodlife.co.uk

What surprises me is how many additives supermarkets (and some manufacturers) put in veggie food. Makes me think nope, going to buy more cookbooks, ingredients and do it ourselves :)

Not just veggie food, I can't believe the ingredients list at times even for the simple things.

Has anyone else noticed Sainsburys has stopped selling organic white long grain rice ?
Was in there a couple of days ago and both the organic wholewheat and ordinary fusilli pasta was on sale to clear at 74p. Checked on line and not listed so I think they are cutting some organic lines :(

Felt like Christmas today when the Riverford delivery arrived, how I love Fridays :j Meat box with sausages and bacon and a steak and kidney mix, together with a small veg box and some extras and 2 big bags of spuds. only disappointment was the bag of sprouts instead of a stalk. OH made lots of lovely bread today so will it be bacon or sausages for breakfast tomorrow. Oh decisions, decisions :D

rufy if Sainsbury's is cutting organic pasta that would be weird cos in last two weeks we found fresh Sainsbury's SO organic pomodoro sauce in the pizza aisle and I bought some today.

Bought some SO organic mint sauce too today and eww it tastes too vinegary and sure last jar wasn't that strong.

Maybe some lines are going to new manufacturers ?

Sainsbury's SO organic fresh blueberries down 50p this week and not an offer  However they were Argentinian.

Picked up the Yeo Valley fruited yogs 450g 2 for £2 offer at Budgens saving 1,10 and noticed Sainsbury's had same offer but price before discount 1.59 - dearer than Budgen's 1.55

Spent afternoon browsing thru my mother's vegetarian cookbook collection and copied out several recipes. :) Going to take months to sift through them all, she has well over 500 veggie cook books and bought another one today.

^ Over 500 wow! I've been sorting through my various recipes I cut out of mags and think I have too many of those even.

Think I found the vegan nut roast in WF in the freezer, had hoped it was a WF made one but it was prepacked type, made by some company in Ireland, think it was £5.99 if bought on its own. Didn't get it. Didn't see any other types in there. Came out with £30 of other stuff however... but forgot the sprout stalk.

Shame if Sainsbury's are stopping some basic lines, one of the places I got most of my organic stuff when first starting out years ago, they were always well priced on things like pasta.

I got coupon for free A&C veg box on a 4 week order. Will start back soon.

Tried the Booja Booja organic dairy free GF ice cream tonight, mega expensive. Nice taste, not as good as Swedish Glace dairy free though but this is organic, looked like ice cream but only contains water, agave, cashews, cocoa! The Goodlife nut cutlets turned up in my Ocado order, they look nice.

Went past a bakery advertising a low carb bread today.

Tip on the recipe cuttings.. cut out the recipes, stick on A4 paper (backs of junk mail will do), place in plastic pockets in ring binders. Gives you wipe-clean pages in the kitchen, can arrange however you want eg by veg or course or type of recipe. ;) i've got two arch lever files full OH reuses to let me have more and makes me cull stuff we haven't cooked if it's been in there a long time.

I don't have so many - my mother reads cookery books in bed like other people read novels :D - I used to have about 50 recipe books but pruned. We use them for inspiration and mess about with them and those recipes go on index cards in a big recipe card box.

I've been without bread for so long now.. I should try the bread but I don't know that I'd really like the taste/texture anymore ?

I've noticed that with salt and sugar, because I don't eat them much I really notice them. Heinz Classics organic cream of tomato soup tastes really sweet to me. Nakd bars are unbearably sweet ditto Green & Black's chocolate. Not the ice ceam tho ;)

I have Whole Foods envy :p i wanna shop there - why don't they deliver  Fortnum & Mason does, Planet Organic does..
