  • Stick around kittie as this thread seems populated with slight oddballs (me included) so the more the merrier!
I have to say that of your meal menu it was only the banana icecream that I liked the sound of! Lol. ;)

  • my christmas order

I have decided not to get a turkey this year, I was dithering anyway but the decider was that they have discovered a new strain of mrsa in some turkeys. I know it won`t transfer to humans, so they say, but my dh has two metal on metal hips so it is an obvious risk to avoid as mrsa likes to accumulate on this sort of area. Order placed now for lovely grass fed organic goodies from a favourite supplier

I managed to get quite a late december delivery so am hoping to make a bit of freezer/fridge space by then

I've just got back from my local Co-op and they had Kallo Organic Beef stock cubes on clearance for 40p! Nabbed the last 6 boxes (we get through lots of stock!) - dates are well into next year so I wonder why they're on clearance...

iKennett thanks for the headsup will look un my local Co-op. Saw new packaging in Sainsbury's, weight up from 66g to 88g but price up too so anyone using em keep a look out, saw them 50p in ASDA.

Kirri, OH wants the recipe ;)

kittie last year OH amd mother both voted for the Christmas night/Boxing Day buffet of cheese, nut roast, salad, pickles, sliced meats, smoked salmon, mince pies etc for Christmas lunch instead of a sit down lunch. That's what they want again. Champagne, feed yourself buffet, board games and movies

today is venison casserole and it is actually a cheap meal. Cooked gently for 2 hours and finished off with hm bramble jelly. Venison does not have to be organic for me as it is a most natural meat, Mashed potatoes and home grown cabbage, home frozen green beans and carrots. Not so much today in the way of healthy juice as we are eating early afternoon, so a different pattern on these days

Alfalfa sprouts make a very good and healthy winter salad type veg, very easy to do and take 4 days to provide food from 1 tbs of seeds, easily obtainable on the net

I have put 1 1/2 kilo of buckwheat seeds to soak, until tomorrow morning. They will get changes of water and tomorrow will go in the dehydrator to make buckwheaties, lovely crispy buckwheat which is grand for breakfast, pudding toppers and all sorts of things. They keep for weeks in a lock n lock cereal box

    I get them from either

Kittie, glad you are sticking around, you have been a mine of information already :)

I am very jealous of your vitamix; I am waiting for a good offer to come around before getting one. I watched several demos in Wholefoods, loved the juices, soups and dessert they made. Seems very versatile. Should have bought one when John Lewis were doing a free second jug offer a few weeks ago but didn't so will have to see what else comes around. Wholefoods were offering a ten year guarantee instead of the usual seven during the demo so hopefully they will do the same next time. I will hold back on asking for anything else for Christmas ;)

Dh has the Sage juicer which is good and easy to clean but takes a while to assemble and dismantle and occupies a lot of space in the kitchen. Also it doesn't work so well on green leaves so you don't get much juice out of them. Shame as we have an allotment and copious supplies of spinach and chard.

kirri did you try the vegan roast from WF in the end? We collect our 'individual dinner' at the weekend . Included two slices of the roast which were nice enough but not so good that I'd rush to order again. I will be doing our favourite cashew and mushroom layer for the festivities. The dinner also had some kale, which was rather chewy, a small pot of vegan gravy which was very good (but very small), a wild rice dish which was a bit dry, and a mixed fruit chutney. I'm going to send some feedback to the team member there who ran the vegan tour I attended.
