Argos bike lock was "burned" open - Bike stole

I guess some opportunist recognised a crap lock on a decent bike and used what he had to hand (lighter?) to open the lock. I'm intrigued how burning it made it open, but he'd obviously done it before to know that.

Regardless, anyone could get through that lock in 5 seconds with a bolt cutter. That lock should be thought of as a mild deterrent, it stops anyone without tools or knowhow from just riding off with the bike, but doesn't stop anyone that knows what they're doing.

You really did need a better lock.

I really know this..
Like I said, the bike is kept at home, it was only used when I was training and if I had to stop into a shop before going home.

I thought it was safe left directly outside the entrance of the shopping centre and thought it was under CCTV.

It was in broad daylight with a lot of people passing, I thought it was safe.
