If so, maybe pop in to their office or give them a call and ask them if they deliver to the area you want your purchase from & if so, would they consider a pick up/collection for you & how much would they charge. I know firms where I live have done it for people & it has cost far less than hiring a lorry etc.
Good point! But I don't think there are any ... though I'll also explore this possibility and perhaps use them when not under such short notice. Thank you.
That's really bizarre that there is no such product as 7.5t insurance excess for the day. Or maybe there is 7.5t day insurance instead? No, don't thinks so. I guess you'd have to own it then... Am I right?0 -
There are only 11 poles that are 6m or over, this 3.5gvw would fit them in easily without needing to go diagonally.
Look at the Jumbo Dropwell, it has a step down at the back which gives you even more length.
If you look at the 7.5gvw they have on the same site, you would struggle to get them in as it has no luton

Hi!
I am trying to find a 7.5t vehicle hire excess insurance online. I've googled until I can't google any longer). Could anybody recommend a site please?
I have bought a huge storage shelving on ebay near Leeds and what to arrange colection now to be delivered to Manchester. Unfortunately, it is too long (6.2m bars) which won't fit into small van. I have found a 7.5 truck for day hire at £90 (inc VAT) from local hire company, but they offer it with really high excess of £750. I have used icarhireisurance before for van hire excess insurance (approx £8 a day), but they don't offer it for 7.5t vehicles.
Could anyone suggest anything? I am not used to hiring vehicle without adequate insurance cover(. Or perhaps someone used 7.5t home removal service (man&van) in Manchester?
Thank you.
Do they offer reduced excess for a fee?0 -

The problem is that hire excess insurance is a fairly rare product anyway and I highly doubt that there is enough people hire a 7.5t vehicle - especially as those that passed their test after 1997 cannot drive anything more than a 3.5t0 -

I'd rent the pick up, with a ladder bar over the cab, and drive back with them lashed to the bar, over the cab.
(Actually, I'd probably put them on the roof of my car, and tie a rag to the back of them)0 -
So would I... probably not very legal or generally a good idea though!Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

You are right, I have just checked it. No fee for buyer, the seller pays a fee around 10% though.0 -

I thought about it too. I think the load still can go over the car length if you tie a red rag to it (found answer on the other website). I think it could stick up to 1m?? Though this info needs confirmation.) 3.5 tippers is an option if they've got a support over cabin though I still don't think it is legal, but might work. Still awaiting reply from the seller to find out if it could be broken down to single bars. Might have to sweat a bit tohugh I'd feel more comfortable driving 3.5 rather than 7.5t with £450 excess.
Though I find it so ridiculous that there is no solution insurance wise in the first place that people have to go through such brain-storming.) Thank you for ideas.0 -

Supply -v- demand - creating, marketing, administrating etc a new insurance product is very expensive. If there is insufficient demand insurers wont invest in creating it.
There are to me what feel bigger gaps in the market (though I could be under estimating the market for private hire of 7.5t trucks).
It was only a couple of years ago that GAP insurance didn't exist for yellow goods (JCBs etc)0
