Using symbols in Photoshop (tick)

Anyone know how to put a "tick" in a photoshop document? I've tried pasting from Word but it has a white background.

Thanks for quick reply. I suppose you could "draw" a tick in Photoshop but I ended up putting in asterisks instead as there were so many required. I don't think Photoshop is the ideal programme for producing something with lots of text on anyway, but I haven't got another suitable programme for producing something for a printer to use.

Its a shame my housemate isn't around at the moment... he is a photoshop and vector graphics god. I think for ticks, he would usually draw the tick in a vector graphics package first, such as Macromedia FreeHand or Adobe Illustrator; then paste that into photoshop for use with images and photographs.

Can't you use the tick in the Wingdings font?

Couldn't find a tick in wingdings or two or three but found one by pressing the "a" in the webdings font! So thanks for that. I knew someone would know!

If you copy this character ü (lower case u with umlaut) and paste it into your Photoshop image, then change the font to Wingdings you will have a tick. Works in Windows XP.

Thanks for your reply. I tried pasting from Word but of course it comes in as an image, which means you can't change the font (or am I being really thick here?!). Also, I still get a white band behind it, which is no good on a coloured background. There must be a way somehow!
  • I know this is an ancient thread and sorry for dragging it up, but i searched in google for how to do this and it was the top result so for anybody else looking for it the solution is to set the font to Wingdings 2 and a capital P will give you a tick :j
