Yet another vote for Oko plus from me. I wouldn't use anyting else after discovering this stuff, it's brilliant. It's expensive to buy inititially, but it lasts for ages, there are no smells, easy to clean, it's just the job.
You just scoop solids and clumps every day and the rest is perfectly clean. I only change the litter and clean out the tray about once every six to eight weeks.
You mentioned your cats going right at the edge of the tray - our cat used to do this until I bought a tray which has a removable lip which fits over the top.0
