HSBC charging for duplicate bank statements, any help?

Hello,
As I need my duplicate bank statements for last three years from HSBC, they require a payment of £7 per year, so a total of £21. TBH, I find it quite unfair. I would highly appreciate if somebody could suggest me a more cost effective way to do this. Can Subject access request be used for this ?
Many thanks

It depends what you need the statements for.
You can use a SARs request to get the information but it wont come in statement format. Still perfectly useable if you are just searching for evidence of certain transactions etc but possibly not usable if you're being asked to provide statements to a referencing company or such0 -

Thanks InsideInsurance, I need the statements as a proof of address for last years. Does SAR mention full name, address and duration on it. How long does the whole procedure take normally.

Thats one of the reasons we elected to revert back to paper statements with all our accounts. I think it's likely that most lenders will charge.0

Hmm, don't lose your bank statements?0 -
Get whoever is requesting proof of last 3 years address to foot the bill if it is that important to them and you.
It's very easy to point the finger and say "keep your statements" but that is not really helping the OP is it?
I'm surprised it is £7 per year, other banks will charge a flat rate irrespective of time. It is quite common for there to be a charge afterall they are duplicating a service they have already provided you. Could you not get some form of letter via your bank stating your address history with them for the past 3 years?
Do you not bank anywhere else? Are their fees comparable?0 -
What about electoral role, utilities bills, etc? Would have thought these were a better proof of residence than bank statements anyway.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

I doubt duplicate statements will help, when I had 6 years of them produced they were all done showing the current address not the addresses at the time of them being originally produced.
SARs would note change of addresses but if it comes in a format the other party will accept is another matter.0 -

Very sensible suggestion - also Council Tax or Tax coding notices could all help.0 -

I was getting to the point of people come on here for help & advice and often get sarcastic/unhelpful comments that are not of any use.
Anyway back to the original request as an after thought, if you ordered the 3 yrs statements would they show previous address or are you just trying to prove you have been at your current address for 3 yrs? If you were trying to show previous address history statements would not show this, as they would show the current address you are at.
But yes electoral register check is one excellent suggestion0
