"Would I need to buy the core or the premium package? Whats the difference?"
Premium has:
a silver tray (not a white one).
A cable for HD
A wireless controller
and
A 20gb HDD.
I'd recommend the premium, but you should be able to play online on the core (just not save any games...)
"Also how do I connect it to the internet? I have 2mb wireless internet, is the console wireless or do I have to buy an adapter or something. "
Best off just sticking an ethernet cable in the back of it (no packet loss etc etc). Failing that, as everyone else says, either the official MS adapter (£55) or an ethernet bridge.
"Also I have to subscribe to an xbox service or do I plug in and play?"
You can do everything but play head to head on a silver subscription (free). If you wanna pro evo it up, you need a years' gold membership.
Just so you know, the best bundles at the mo (check woolies and gameplay) seem to be around £300 for 2.5 games (two good, one older...say GoW, Crackdown and Pro Evo) and the entertainment pack (PGR, live arcade and extra controller)...0 -
Actually, according to xbox360.com (who ought to know) in order to do anything on live (even have a silver subscription) you need a memory card or HDD...so the core console really is crippled...0
