I'm looking to buy a console to play pro evo online. Think im going to shelve the idea for a PS3 for a year or two.
I think I'm going to go for an xbox 360.
Right,
I just have a few questions on what I need to buy.
Would I need to buy the core or the premium package? Whats the difference?
Also how do I connect it to the internet? I have 2mb wireless internet, is the console wireless or do I have to buy an adapter or something.
Also I have to subscribe to an xbox service or do I plug in and play?
Any help would be great.

Hi there
I am no expert, but as my son has an xbox, I can tell you a bit!
You need the premium xbox to be able to go on line, otherwise you need to upgrade the core one.
You can connect to a wireless network with a network adaptor for the 360, bought seperately or go wired without the adaptor.
You need to purchase a gold membership to play on line. Many games come with free trials, a 12 month live membership costs between £33-£40.
I am sure someone will help you more than I can, but it gives you an idea for getting started.0 -
Thanks alba.
So by the looks of it I need the premium one then.
I have a spare wireless connecter, does it connect via usb or do I need a special microsoft one.0 -
You need a special one. Or you can use those home plug thingys.Nice to save.0

you can get the wireless adapter for around £50, try your local game shops for any second hand onesNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

I have a spare belkin one. Would that be compatable.0

You need either the official usb wireless adapter or what's known as a wireless to eithernet bridge.
A belkin usb dongle will NOT work.0 -
Im not sure about the not being able to go online with a core 360 I think you can but I would spend the extra and buy the premium for the hard drive and wireless controler.
Microsoft sell a wireless adaptor for the 360, there is another company that have made one that works and it is a bit cheaper, here. The oficial MS one is £60, the 360 also has a eithernet port so you can connect to a wired router. you can also buy a cheap wireless router and use it as a bridge to connect to your wireless network.
To play online you need to subscribe to xbox live with the gold subscription. it costs about £40rrp but they can be got for less. There are month long trials that are included in a selection of games.
There is an xbox 360 bundle available that includes a premium xbox and pro evo 6 that is the one I got savings work out at about £20 buying it that way. but tesco gave me mine for nowt.0 -
Just posting to let people know that when you first sign up for xbox live through your 360 if you choose the silver membership (free) they will give you a 1 month trial of the gold membership. You need to go through their procedure all of the way, as if you really do want silver. At the end, it will say you have qualified for the bonus one month. My mate bought the card straight off so he got 12 months when he could have had 13 for the same outlay.desrever sthgir lla0

you can get onto LIVE without a hard drive but if you want to download game demos, play some games and save your position then its worth getting the premium+20GB hard driveNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20
