  • Thanks so much, ignoring was my plan but when I read the AA's advice and on honestjohn about car owner responsibility I started to get cold feet!
I feel much better now - thanks again :)

Hello Confused. The bottom line is that shift of technical responsibility does not make the claim of the PPC valid. If its demand were lawful, there would not have have been any "chase the driver not the keeper" process in the first place. The PPC would merely accept that its demand has been rejected and would have pushed for court action from the first moment. The judge would indeed have asked the keeper who drove, and once the keeper nominated the driver - which he couldn't refuse in court - the bill would have been transferred to that individual and that would have been final. But because the demand is anything but legal, because it happens to be a de facto penalty and not a repayment for proven damages, the PPC has no leg to stand on in its claim whether pursuing the driver or the keeper. They are still stuck on Sqaure One, have no worries!

I received a letter from ukpc for parking 8 mins too long in a McDonald's car park. I'm aware the law changed on the 1st of October with the owner now being responsible. I was photographed on the 29th of Sept but the letter was sent out a couple of days ago, after the law change. I don't want to pay and I haven't contacted the company but I'm not sure what to do, any advice would be very gratefully received thanks

The change is from the 1st October , invoices like yours issued before then doesn't fall under it, if you receive any letters referring to the new system please come back to us as this would be a breach that could be reported to the dvla
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I thought MET Parking dealt with McDonalds carparks. Has McDonalds sacked them in favour of UKPC ?

Not sure whether there are any nationwide contracts but McDonald stores may be be franchises or centrally owned and none of this is clear from first sight.

hi rosie 1992, i have just about come to the end of a letter chain. Have got a letter offering me a chance to pay a reduced sum of £80 instead of £120 from a debt collector. they say their lient is doing this out of good will! Shall i pay?
Nope i stuck out this far.
Follow the advice and keep your chin up. They are very devious people. A colleauge has just payed £30 even though the rest of her work mates have been ignoring them. Very frustrating

Out of curiosity, what meal did you order that took over 2 hours to consume in the car park?

I would write back and say that following your 2 hour McDonald's meal, you become so fat that your car lacked the power to drive out of the car park. And that you feel serving you such a large meal was entrapment.

It takes that long to differentiate between the burgers and the packaging!

The packaging actually is much tastier!
