The guy who was banned was PJ,who also worked for the same company you do Chris.Yes he was banned but hes emails and pms were very abusive and threatening to myself , Saveapenny and another member(cant remember who it was).I was the one who called his company to report him 1st and they were disgusted at his behaviour especially as i forwarded all his mails etc. to them.
If travel agents are given free reign of advertising surely then everyone in business right across the board would also be given these priviledges and i just cant see that happening at all.

Chris what were you actually banned for on Holiday Truths?

You say what is wrong with making money?.Well nothing at all we all need it but the rules of the board say no advertising/touting for business etc but you have been doing it for ages now when other agents were not allowed.Why did you have special priviledges? or maybe you didnt and just got away with it when others were stopped from doing so.
Anyway to actually bring up private conversations you have had with another member is totally out of order.

I hope a new thread can be set up. NO agent will bother quoting on a thread if someone else just 'undercuts' by £5-not thinking of the 'protection'.

So....by me sending out some deals I've made some commision & also some happy 'moneysaving' customers. SO WHAT.

Let's keep the threads separate & we're all happy & Martins charity makes some money.

You actually need to ask Martin first as its still advertising/promoting your business.

Sloppy-if a separate thread-it's not advertising. People just ask for help from Agents. It's just that I think the one thread can't survive with our big egos (!) And some charity for Martin would be good.

And as for me mentioning 'private' conversations....yes-a bit 'tit for tat' but the previous comments deserved it. Nothing wrong with making money.If there was an agents only thread-to give ATOL quotes-if i'm not around another agent can do it.

If some saddo had not got my thread deleted last night there would be no need to post re: a separate thread. IT'S A CHAT FORUM-NOT REAL LIFE! 3 moneysavers HAVE saved money by booking these deals-surely 'moneysaving' is the aim??!

Either Travel Agents are able to post deals here for their own gain (i.e. comission), or they can't. That way this argument can stop.

I totally agree and you need to check this out Chris and get Martin to post it for all to see as at the mo you are blatantly breaking the rules of the board.

I've just noticed that there is a Code of Conduct for Mortgage Advisors on the mortgages board. This is to ensure there are no "conflicts of interests".

Now I appreciate mortgages and holidays are worlds apart, and mortgage decisions and their effects can be far bigger, but surely there are some similarities here? At the end of the day its both professionals trying to help MSEers (and I have no doubt that the TA's here do want to help people find the best holiday), yet these professionals do stand to make a gain if a sale is made.

Perhaps a travel agent code of conduct, or something similar (probably a scaled down version of the mortgage one) would be the best way forward. That way there is a set of rules, and its easy to make out whether people are doing things right or wrong.

How do you define 'advertising'???? If I had answered a request for a quote some could say that WAS advertising??? How do you define it? Any agent that puts a price up on here it could be construed that it IS advertising???!

The only reason I offered the deals out by e-mail is as said earlier-they are confidential & I could not post them on a public board. The 3 people that booked HAVE SAVED MONEY.Surely this is what the board is about??

How come then, savapenny, you felt that it had to be closed down? It doesn't hurt YOU-it's simply saved people money??

And how come you did not reveal BEFORE giving the quotes that you would stand to make £5 a booking???!

To all MSE posters.....just so it's CLEAR-Sava WAS making money from these quotes.

All that I'm saying is that I'm being treated as the bad guy here. I sent out some genuine 'moneysaving' deals-3people benefited.

There really is no hope for Agents on this board. Whatever we do we'll never get past the 'dominant' posters. So no point in any Agents trying to post on here at all.

Incidently, Sava, how may £5's did you make? As you did not declare this BEFORE you quoted perhaps a donation to Simons Charity??
