WARNING! Check Your Tesco Clubcard Points After Purchase

My husband went to fill the car with diesel at the local Tesco station late last week spending £50,
he handed over his switch card and Tesco clubcard to the cashier, put the receipt in his wallet and thought no more about it.
At work the following day he checked his receipt to see how many points he had, it read 4730, how many had they made a mistake we don't do that much shopping, checked his clubcard number against the one on the receipt and totally different,
The cashier had swiped her own card to gain the points,
He went straight down to Tescos to see the manager, she said it looked as though she was after a free holiday, took his name and number and said she would look into the matter, gave him his points back and a poxy bunch of flowers for is inconvenience,
Do you all think this is an acceptable solution or is it just us
So always ask for a receipt after using the petrol station.

i think the cashier on the till should be addressed, and they should inform you of any action taken....problem nothing to do with you but least you would have piece of mind that Tesco have taken the correct action.0

omg! thats just unbelievable! Get her name and report her to head office .. thats just blanten theft!0

Yeah, after that copper being in the news the other week about "fraudulently" getting CC points on self scan tils this should be bought to HO attention, if not the newspaper that had the article about the copper (The Times I think) at least the copper was actually buying stuff!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

ooooh the sly cheeky cah !
I always watch closely to make sure they scan my fob !
and check the receipt afterwards to make sure the correct number of points have been added !0 -
She's lucky it wasn't a point collecting maniac like me, I don't think I would have been responsible for my actions if it had been me.0

Wowzers, that is unbelievable!
I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see that assistant again ... you can bet that if she has done it with your purchase there have been plenty more too.
Chappy, I've just noticed you are in Nottingham - me too - will be getting everyone to double check their receipts!Gone ... or have I?0 -
It is theft. I work in a supermarket and we have in the past dismissed colleagues for the same or similar thing. You are not supposed to carry any personal cash or cards. This cashier was carrying a card whilst operating a checkout and using it by 'stealing' someones points. At my place of work that would be considered gross misconduct. (pending investiagion etc of course)
We have also involved the police for prosecution in some instances.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -
This sort of thing happens all the time. There's always people thinking that they can get away with it. But it's pretty stupid to do it to people who present their own clubcard - sensible thieves (and I know that sounds wrong and I'm not encouraging theft) would only do it where the person fails to offer their clubcard, preferably pays in cash, and then wouldn't give them a receipt at all!0

we had an experience at Sainsburys last week. I sent my husband to the checkout while I went to see about something at the customer service desk. He came up to me saying that he hadn't got the Nectar card back, the checkout girl insisted that she had given it back to him but it was nowhere about his person or around the till. Since I have about 6000 points it would have been a great loss. Fortunately the customer service person phoned them straightaway and the card was blocked, I am now awaiting a replacement. The checkout girl was never challenged!!but I wonder how often this sort of thing happens.0

This can also happen with supermarket gift cards - the checkout operator gives the customer back a card with £0 on it, and pockets the customers card. The customer only notices when they next try to use it, and its difficult to prove they didn't spend on it. Someone got caught in my store doing this because they used their discount card when they used the stolen giftcard :rolleyes:Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0
