Gas Bill Problem

I have just moved in to a 4 bed bungalow with a loft conversion already done. It has a central heating system running off a combi boiler and my issue is that the first bill received is rather high. The previous owner was with Br Gas for both services and straight away I checked and found that NPower would be cheapest fro me so I immediatly moved to them.

I have just received my gas bill for the period from when I moved in to when the new supplier took over and if I calcualte this at a rate of one year my gas bill would be about £1300 yet in my previous house 3 bed (boiler system)I only paid £357 for the previous 12 months.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what is going on here as the increase does seem a tad excessive to me.

Is it beacuse it is a combi system?
What could be cause of this?

What are the details of your bill? kWh, period of bill, cost.

How did you reach the £1300 figure.

Are you sure the reading when you moved in was accurate? and the last reading accurate.
