Do cats forgive?!

I'm really worried...me and my cat were playing this morning as usual, chasing each other around and we kind of colided and she got scared as if i had hit her adnr an out of the house. I coaxed her back in with treats and we had a cuddle but then she went out again and I'm worried about her disappearing today whilst I'm at work
do you think she will forgive and forget?!

Cats have no conception of forgiveness,
You gave her a fright, that she understands.
She will be as normal as normal is when she comes back.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
unlike us, animals don't live in the past, once something has occurred it's gone. It's not like it's something you do to her all the time so she would remember it, so i think that she'll be fine.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

Not so sure about that - past experiences definately affect animals. as this was accidental and a one off I would say Cat will forgive.
Abject apologies and pampering won't go amiss though! I have accidentally hurt my animals and usually they forgive straight away!0 -
I know an awful lot of wild cats who've never forgiven me! I'm the devil incarnate due to worming and defleaing. Tame cats are better, but I have had it where just one worming makes a cat hate me permanently, or rather, until I've been able to find a home for them. But that is different, because the poor cat doesn't even know me before I'm worming , defleaing, holding for bloodtest and microchipping etc. Most tame ones are perfectly fine with me after though.
You've already built up a good amount of trust with your cat. If it's a one off then most learn to trust again quite quickly. I've an ex feral here who goes stupid running away if I accidentally upset him, but within quarter of an hour he's back to normal.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. I stood on my cat's tail by mistake yesterday, she gave an almighty yelp and ran away. Ten minutes later she was back looking for treats...
I did make a fuss of her I must admit.0 -
I trod on our ex-feral's tail this morning and he shot out the catflap. He's now lying upside down under my desk padding claws into my foot and purring loudly. That comes several months after I accidentally shut his tail in the back door (fortunately didn't break it). I do apologise to them when something like that happens (you know the abject voice). Yours will forgive you

I have 'kicked' or 'punched' Lulu right in the face a couple of times, she hares around the flat right when I am moving about.
She has always forgiven me by the time she next wants food (whenever I am in the kitchen) or a cuddle (whenever she is not eating or playing!). Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Cats associate past experiences with people and things. We think our rescue cat was mistreated before she came to us, but we can still step on her tail occasionally without worrying she'll leave home. We've built her up a big store of good memories, and I'm sure you have for your cat too

I trod on big cat a couple of weeks ago (he was trying to get out the front door at the same time as me & I didn't want him to go out and we got all in a tangle) ...... took him about 3 days before he'd come near me!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
