Just read the chat above (tediously long I know) - they said you have a 'verbal contract' - and gave a time and date of the call. That was a lie -they never made the call but it is that 'verbal contract' that they use to justify the 30 day termination you see. So they pretend to give you a contract and then sting you to cancel it!!!

They were wrong to say that you had a verbal contract and that they'd called you - that does sound fishy so I can see where you're coming from.

However, I am sure that they are correct that you do still have a contract with them; when your initial minimum term expired, you will have moved onto a rolling "30 days notice", but you will still be in a contract with them. (Check your Ts and Cs, I'm with Orange and it is plainly spelled out).

In other words, the end of the 'minimum term period' does not mean the end of the contract.

    Pay monthly airtime conditions
    Customer agreement

I understand and agree to the following.
    ...
    3 Length of this agreement
    – This agreement will start when you connect my SIM card to the price plan shown above and is for an initial minimum period as shown on this order form or in the welcome letter or welcome email
    ...

    Pay monthly airtime conditions

    2 Your agreement period

a We’ll continue to supply you with, and you must pay the charges for, the services until we or you end this agreement in line with clause 11.
    ...
    11 Ending this agreement
a Either you or we may end this agreement by giving the other 30 days’ notice in writing. Your notice must include your mobile number and your signature or appropriate security details. You must pay the charges during the notice period.
So, the question is very simple.
When the minimum term expired, have you given a notice to cancel the contract(s) and can you prove this?

I am not sure that I get what you are complaining about.

You have a number of Vodafone handsets that seem to be on monthly contracts. According to your chat, they were renewed/taken out as follows

You: the call you must have made to get me to agree a verbal contract
You: (by the way I don't use any of these phones - they are all used by my family) so you simply cannot have spoken to me
You: because you don't have my number
You: can't find any evidence can you? Because you did not make the call
You: because you cannot have done so
Bhavya: For the number 07780****** , you upgraded on 26/08/2010 at 18:33
Bhavya: The agent name was Ismath Arshad
You: and what number did Ismath call please
Bhavya: On the same day, you upgraded the order 2 numbers too

Well. it's obvious to me from that you have been on contract for 2 years and no complaints. They have not renewed anything this year and, as you are on a 30-day rolling contract when your initial term ends, you have to give 30 days notice. Perfectly fair and in the t&c.

You need to understand the difference between "out of initial contract period" and "out of contract". Just what do you think you were using since 2010????

    End of.

    Hi Mark K. Smith,

I am also slightly confused by your post.

You have mentioned that you had contracts running with us, which if you took out yourself would come under the terms and conditions here . It states:

"3 Length of this agreement – This agreement will start when you connect my SIM card to the price plan shown above and is for an initial minimum period as shown on this order form or in the welcome letter or welcome email. One of the ways that I may end this agreement is by giving you 30 days’ written notice. The other reasons for this agreement coming to an end are shown in clause 11 of the pay monthly airtime conditions."

It is standard practice across all networks that to cancel a contract, you provide 30 days notice.

If the case is that you actually never signed up for the contract in the first place and believe it to have been set up by someone else fraudulently, then it's certainly something we will investigate.

I also appreciate that to have such a high bill for your wifes line can be quite distressing. We offer a variety of tools where our customers can monitor their usage as not to have bill shock. You can check online through My Account here, through the My Vodafone app on the phone itself and by dialling 44555 from your phone.

If you would like to discuss this in more detail, you can contact me personally via the link here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. Please also include a contact number and a link to your post.

    Many thanks,
