All we get is a message saying 'little or no connectivity'

common cause of that is to do with IP.
Check there's no static IP address set and if there is it's in the same scope with the correct subnet mask and gateway.

If it's set to run on DHCP and still not playing try giving it a static IP.

hi sheming gypsy...I'm not so well up on wireless set up, can you explain what you mean as I'm not sure how to do that. I tried again tonight but it just keeps coming up with the little or no connectivity thing. Gonna try resetting the router and see if that does the trick.

right click network neighbourhood, properties. Then it'll ccome up with a box with your network connections in, right click the wireless one and go to properties again. You'll have a list of network 'stuff' and the bottom one will be TCP/IP. click it and then click properties and there'll be 2 options, 'Obtain IP address automatically' or 'Use the following IP address'. Make sure it's on the top option.

When you disabled security, did you click apply or save. If it is still prompting for a WEP key, it suggests it is still encrypted, which would explain your limited or no connectivity (which is often caused by a mismatched key).

If they are all XP, try a wpa-key, they are easier and more secure than wep.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
