hi, I bought one of these last year from asda (£60 bargain), and have COMPLETELY failed to find the right size "nozzle" on the gas bottle. What I mean is, the regulator (the part of the BBQ on the end of the hose that connects to the bottle) requires a certain diameter gas bottle (there isnt one standard size) and the thing is, I don't know which size it needs. I have to full gas bottles which are both the wrong size.
Can anybody advise as to how I can find out what size connector/gas bottle I need?
The regulator has a number on it i think it says 5/8 (i will check when its light) which I guessed was five 8ths of an inch, but no shop I've ben to knows what size the nozzles on their bottles are.
I hope that makes sense and someone can help us, we didn't have a single BBq last year because of thisand we already wanted some this year and cant
If it helps I can take some photos of the bbq, regulator etc when it's light.
please help!!!
Thanks loads
laurie
If its the asda one/the same one I bought, the regulator is for the patio gas bottle, the 27mm one.
Does anyone know if the gas bottle can be left outside safely?
Thanks

I agree with funkymonkey, I think the taste from a charcoal bbq is much better than from a gas one. We tend to bbq a few times a week during the summer but ended up giving our gas bbq away as we just never used it.0

It might be worth asking at you local "household recycling centre" (Tip!) whether they have empty gas cylinders.
I got one last year, and they only charged me £2.00 (the same price regardless of size or type). I then took it to a bottled gas supplier who charged me the refill price to exchange it for a full one, which was a lot less than the price of a new bottle.
IYSWIM!

Gas is excellent for barbecueing;you get controllable heat and flame for cooking,it's clean,it's efficient and heats up in seconds from the moment the piezo ignitor ignites the gas(so you are not waiting for your charcoal to turn grey in 20-30mins for your cooking), and the juices from your meat dripping onto the lava rock or flavouriser bars gives your food that distinct lovely barbecue flavour! On butane a BBQ flame should be blue with slight yellow tips which slightly increase as it warms up, with propane the BBQ flame should be predominantly blue with just a very slight yellow tip at the top of the flame. There shouldn't be excessive yellow in the flame or carbon/soot emission-if there is either, cleaning of the burner and/or unclogging of the burner venturi and/or burner airways should solve it ;spiderwebs/dead insects and other debris blocking the venturis or airways or fat clogged burners can cause an excess of yellow and sometimes the emission of carbon/soot because the burner is receiving insufficient air for proper combustion.0
