Does anyone know what the daily cash withdrawal limit at Abbey is, for over the counter withdrawals? I know there is a £300 ATM limit, but wondered what it would be in branch.

I had to withdraw 1000. one day but was not able to at the Abbey they advised me to take 600 out at counter then 300 at the machine.
I have a basic account with them but it may vary with accounts0 -
It may be unlimited if you give them advance notice - phone them up and ask.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

From the account T&C's...3.2 There are maximum daily limits on the cash you can withdraw from your account using your cheque book or card. When you open your account or when you are issued with a card we will tell you what the limits are. These limits may change.
Suggest you contact your local branch, or ring Abbey on 0800 587 2758, to find out.0 -
I know I can ring them to ask, but was trying to work out whether I needed to take some out today or not. No phone support available today. Anyway, done that and I'll call them in the morning to find out about limits.0

That is so typical of Abbey. That's why I've moved most of my banking away from them.0 -

Natwest you can withdraw however much you like providing you have servicecard/cheque to self and secondary identification such as passport or driving lisence.
You can withdraw up to 950 without a lisence or pp anything 1000 or above you need secondary id.
2000 or above you need to give 24hrs notice.
abbey isnt a proper bank so i imagine theres a few things you can not do with them...like halifax that isnt a bank either.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no.435- Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :cool:0 -
Well, just spoken to Abbey Customer Services. The daily cash withdrawal limit over the counter is £500. And then, as has been said before in this thread, you can withdraw a further £300 from a cash machine. Any more than this requires "prior arrangement with the branch", usually 24 hours notice. It's a joint account. I wonder if we can withdraw that amount each. Going to try it out at the cash point at any rate.0

The limits are per account, not per person. So if the other account holder's already taken £300 from the ATM the other holder wouldn't be able to get anything until the next day.
Just to explain what the limits mean, there is always £500 per account available at any Abbey branch with no notice. If you need more then that's fine, as long as you have some other ID with you and there's enough cash available. If you give 2 working days notice then you can draw as much as you like, again as long as you bring some other ID with you.
To correct some misinformation, Abbey is a full bank (just like the Halifax) and has been for many years. The only large building society left is Nationwide.0
