Sky broadband switching phonelines?

Hi guys just was wondering if anyone of you have any experience of moving a broadband connection from one phone line to another within the same property?

My tale:
Have two BT lines in my house. Had the second one put in years ago to the bedroom to use back in the days of dial up internet connections so the main line was free to use for phone-calls (note for anyone under 25, dial-up was used in the days before broadband, was slow and hogged up the phoneline).

Well over time moved onto broadband and ended up on Sky broadband. Got the phonebill for the 2nd line the other month and was thinking that in the days of Broadband and wireless home networks i have been wasting money having a second line.

So looking to get rid of the second line and move my Sky connection over to the 1st main line. Anyone any experience of this? I guess i would follow the same procedure as skys moving house system?

Happy with the service and not looking to move (unless they mess up the transfer/increase prices or someone else has a cracking deal on which they won't match).
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

Are you intending to port the number on the line that is to be decommissioned, to the remaining line?

Simply get rid of the second line - no transfer of service is necessary, as it's up to you how you use phone/broadband in your property.

    So cancel line one then!

It was rather a silly move to provision broadband on a line that is used for broadband only all those years ago, as one of the main selling points of broadband was that call can still be made/received.

    Fair point.

  • Is the Sky Broadband still under contract? If not, just cancel the whole line and then re-sign up with Sky Broadband using the other line.

I got this quite a bit at Sky Broadband, usually when BT provisioned the wrong line...What Sky have to do is cease line one & reprovide it to the new number,it's called, ironically,a "Cease & Reprovide" iirc.
Usually the switch is done smoothly so the wont be any interruption in service.Although you're looking for about 14 days it to be completed.

The line was bought for dial up as we use the mail line as a business line for clients to contact dad. The stupid thing i did was not canceling my 2nd line when i moved from dial up to Broadband.

Cheers I hoped there was something on that lines (no pun intended).
