How many hours paid work do you do per week during term time?

Hello,
When I enter my second year, my outgoings are going to increase dramatically due to travel costs. To cover each week, I have worked out that I would have to work about 16 hours. But the course will involve three days of placement, plus 1-2 days of lectures.
To be honest, I do think that 16 hours will be too much and I'll try to work as much as I can during the holidays to build up a travel fund. Saying that, I would still like to do some work during the week just to keep everything ticking over.
If I did about 7 hours one day a week (eg Saturday), do you think this would be too much on top of everything? I'm currently gaining 1sts/2:1s for my essays and exams and would like to improve on this so as to get firsts for the majority of my work.
I would appreciate and advice from anyone who has continued to work during their studies.
Thanks

i work 13 hours a week and am in 3rd year. Yes its hard work but then my time management and organistion has improved and is better than most other 3rd years on my course!0

I did 10 per week but they were early shifts on sat am and sun am 7am - 12, so that still gave me the afternoons and evenings to do work.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

I did 20+hrs a week, and as im considering college/uni again, i wont be working at all if i can help it. First time around (and other circumstances) ended with me dropping out.0

as im sure many would agree, it also depends what course you do, some courses, tend to not have such a large work load
whereas olthers are a lot more demanding

My job allows me to work however many hours a week as I like, so it has ranged from 7 to 22 in the past, but from now on I'll be doing 20. It may seem like loads but it's all evening work, and I don't have too many uni contact hours anyway.. It's all an extremely good lesson in how to manage my time!0

i do 16 - 25
im contracted to 16 which gets me about £450 (bare in mind i worked this year to pay my own fees.. so theres £1200 gone)
and the only other over time i really do is sunday which is time and a half.. so about £11/£12 per hour0 -
Thanks for the feedback.
The job I'll be doing will allow me to work as little or as long as I want, so I won't have to commit to a set number every week. I think I'll start on say 7 hours a week and see how I get on.
The course does have a heavy workload and it can also be emotionally draining, especially once on placement.0 -

Yes, it helps keep the stress levels down if I know I'm not tied to anything when I have several assignments to complete.0 -
