I think it doesn't void the warranty, but it's worth checking for any particular manufacturer.
    E.g. Samsung:
The warranty period applies from the date of purchase by the first customer and is transferable only between end-users.

Don't even know how Samsung would check if you were the first owner.

In my own experience, though, HTC are fine repairing second hand phones so it's not a blanket thing.

Not that I ever mentioned that the phone wasn't originally bought by me, of course.

Nokia repaired one of their phones for me under warranty and I had purchased it from EBay.

I googled the warranty details and discovered it still had over a year to run. No questions asked about ownership - they just checked that the warranty was still valid

Typically, you overestimate the competence and intelligence of low-level CS. This is just one of the recent examples: Need a Micro SD card but they're all SDHC - help!

IMO, the information on their website is self-sufficient and clear. If you think differently and want to get any valuable information , quote it in your inquiry and ask for the clarification of the parts that seem to be unclear to you.

I would ask how the warranty can be transferred between the end users and what proofs they need.
