OS Daily - Monday 8th October 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 8th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull and overcast and a real nip in the air here this morning, DH up and off to work stupid early. Washing on the line.
DS2 recovering well with his broken toe, he can't do any sport/dance/games or ride his bike at the moment so I'm taking him to school and a friend is bringing him home on the days I'm working.
Yesterday was the usual fiasco, some people didn't get what they wanted and are accusing others, some people just don't know when to give up and be the bigger person and say evidently I'm not going to be able to do what I would like so I'll bow out gracefully. Oh well, I'm sure it will all sort itself out, just getting a little fed up of all the hassle to be honest and we're not directly involved at this level anymore either!
Food yesterday was a cooked brekkie and then a thrown together rice thingy when we got back.
I'm back to work today and expecting a manic Monday as usual. Looking forward to the weekend already as myself and DH are going away on our own as we have a job to do for another area within our caravanning life. Will be a nice break as will see friends we haven't seen for a while.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all,
Cold and raining here too, wont bother with any washing today, managed to get my bedding washed and dried yesterday.
OH and I had a nice afternoon yesterday, went to the local car boot which was closed, so then went onto the next town to their massive one, had a good stroll around there for a while, and on the way back decided to pop into where dd works and have lunch, very nice to have the day off
Today I am dropping dd at work, then home to do paid for office work, then pack and post more ebay parcels, and list some more.
Roast pork for dinner, with all the trimmings, just right on a day like this.
Bitsy, you sound so busy, good luck with everything, and try to take some time for yourself xx
BB how is maud ?
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Hope you all had a good weekend. We did. Went to Old Town Hastings for a Classic car show. OH pushed me round in my wheelchair, which was nice. Was able to get some Christmas stocking fillers in a shop that I love, but find it difficult to get to.:T
Managed to garden yesterday for and hour and a half. Felt really good afterwards though, job well done!:T
OH covered the patio furniture and awning for the winter:o Sad about that, but hey ho....
Found a bit of reduced frying steak in the freezer yesterday, looked a bit ropey, so I chopped up half an onion, covered it in bisto gravy and braised it for Sunday lunch, it was lovely! OS or what?:rotfl:
Not sure what to have today. Maybe egg and chips, haven't had that for ages!
I was really achy yesterday, after falling again in the hairdressers on Friday. My other eye has come out with a great bruise! Slept well though, was going to have a duvet day, but need to get to the Post Office, so got up!:rotfl:
Hope you all have a good day today.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

mprning all
woke up to my son saying mum...winters here. yes your right son!! its chilly here today. my husband is off today so he has taken little one to school. i have to be at the same school for work at 915 but to be honest it gives me loads more time. house all tidy and clean which i was doing yesterday/this morning. i love to see it all sparkly
tea is a mish mash today. little one requested pizza so ive just put that in the bread maker. dd wants cheesy pasta.. will make the sauce for that after work and were having chicken curry with yesterdays roast left overs. we can make it a little spicier if they are not having it. not decided which curry yet as i have all the stuff for a thai and i also have tikka paste. will decide later.
know that work will be busy but ive asked my other lady to come in early so she can help. hot dogs today and the buns take FOREVER.
I sat down yesterday and did a whole months menu plans and then did a weekly shopping list so i know what i need for meals and then i just have to add the extras. also put the board in the utility room near the fridge with the menu plans on it as im fed up of hearing whats for tea. LOOK AT THE BOARD lol
im extra organied at the moment. got my bad week at work this week. i do 16 hrs at my second job this week and with my other job that means 40 hrs plus. i moan about this week all the time but the pay is good so i would be silly to give it up.
hubbie home. must get dressed and ready for work
have a good day everyone0 -
Morning all :wave::wave:
Bloomin freezin this morning, even the dogs didn't want to go outside lol! Had to scrape the van, winter is most definately on it's way!
Started writing a list of 'things I need to do for winter', which so far only includes make draft excluders and make a curtain for the front door.
I've got some rolls of insulation from B$Q, like this stuff http://www.diy.com/nav/build/insulation/loft-insulation/combi_rolls/Knauf-EkoRoll-Loft-Insulation-200mm-12057530?skuId=12588236
Do you think I could use this for inside my draft excluders?? Or just use old clothes, I've got plenty of those as well :-)
Not a clue what is for dinner tonight, but after spending £91 at MrT's and £10 at the local butchers, I know there is lots of things to choose from!
xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Morning All
We had rain in the early hours, but it is dry at the moment, I only have half a load of washing so there is no point putting the machine on for that.
DS has left for college DH isn't home yet but should be soon. ( Talk of the devil he has just walked in)
He has to look at the fan in the oven, it is making a horrendous noise, he thinks that either one one of the fan blades has bent or a bearing has gone. I hope that he can fix it, I love my oven it keeps such a good temperature and I would rather he fixes it than we have to go out and buy a new one. Mind you I have a friend who is a white goods engineer and if DH can't fix it I will be giving him a call
Is it me or do all white goods seem to have thinner metal akin to tin these days?
Oh well my "master" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: bellows
