Trolling?

Have just looked at a fair few of your threads and can't see anyone being out of order to you.
Maybe the harsh posts have been deleted?0 -
Agree with a lot of the replies you have received here, remember it is easy to hide behind a keyboard. Also remember just because people do not agree with you does not make them a troll. I lurk a lot on here and only contribute occasionally, however I have seen a lot of posters come on to the boards who think they know everything, and as a result tend to label genuine posters as trolls. I have seen a lot of posters disappear from the boards, due to the likes of these people who tend to think they are always right and have a self righteous attitude, people who have thousands of posts and have helped numerous people in the past, they cannot be bothered with the aggro some of these posters are intent on bringing to the forum. A lot of the trolls will try to deflect attention away from themselves and blame the other posters, but it is fairly clear who the actual troll is if you can read between the lines. Try not to rise to a troll if they are baiting you but just report their posts, although with my experience this does not always receive the action worthy of it by the MSE team, and sometimes the trolls can even deceive the MSE team and you will have your posts/threads removed if you respond to the baiting. Good luck and hope you avoid any trolls in the future, but I would not hold your breath:)
Not all, but SOME people on here who are quite new, DO know as much as some of the people who have been here ages, due to their own experiences and knowledge. It's a bit narrow minded to assume that everyone who has been on MSE for a long time knows more about financial issues, than someone who has not been here long! Yes maybe some new people don't know *some* stuff that people on here know, but then again, they may know some stuff that existing members don't know. Surely forums like this are about sharing knowledge and people who are new should be allowed to do this without being put down ...
Also some people cannot STAND it when someone has an opinion different to theirs - especially if they are quite new here. If you dare to put your head above the parapet and don't cow-tow to the 'elders' and disagree with a viewpoint of theirs, they try to cast you out like a pariah. Before you know it, you have them and their 4 or 5 pals on the site backing each other up, mocking and belittling you and what you say, and then acting shocked that someone has the temerity to report them... And obviously the posts *are* reported, as they are removed.
I have seen a number of posts removed by people who have been here a year or two - (or more) And MSE are not stupid and are not 'being fooled.' They are simply removing rude and offensive and provocative posts... no matter WHO posts them. I have reported some, and I know others have reported those same posts. Also, I know that the people in question who I am referring to - (the ones who have been here ages and can't bear newbies having a viewpoint) also report posts. So I find it laughable when people act all hurt and shocked when their posts disappear, because THEY report posts at the drop of a hat!
As I said, you say "sometimes the trolls can even deceive the MSE team and you will have your posts/threads removed if you respond to the baiting." Like I said, MSE are not stupid; they will remove ANY posts that are rude or seen as baiting. Or are you of the opinion that the posters who have been here a while, should be immune from having their posts removed and should be allowed to be as rude as they like? Whilst only the newbies get their posts removed and are not allowed a viewpoint?
As I said in my earlier post - trolling takes many guises in my opinion. And it's not always the 'newbies' who do it. Trailing around after someone, checking where they last posted and purposely posting anything snide or negative and totally irrelevant to the thread content is also a form of trolling - and bullying. And I should know. I have been on the receiving end of it many times from the same 2 or 3 posters.0 -
Can you please give me some examples of this trolling you refer to?0
