Fairness when sharing same landline

I really hope someone can help me. I have trawled the internet and have not got very far. We want to install a landline in a shared house. Sharing the line rental is the easy part. However, we don't want to end up paying for each others' phone calls. Does anyone know if we can create a system where the user can be…

That's probably work if the other 2 aren't that savvy about telephony and could just be told that their access code is 18185 or whatever.

OTOH, if they're a bit more switched on they'd be using the other two codes most of the time!

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
