If the animals in this charity's care are not being housed or cared for according to the Five Freedoms I would report them to the RSPCA. Secondly return the dog, have them sign to say the contract is null and void or take a witness who is an upstanding member of the community and preferably not a close relative. Then send a 'letter before action' stating you will take them to the small claims court for the purchase price. Agree there is a strong argument this is not a donation because it is a fixed amount, and that the dog has been returned for being 'not as described' under the Sale of Goods Act.

I'm sorry things haven't worked out as you'd hoped doesn't seem like a good match for you or the dog. I can understand a rescue may not have a kennel free immediately as most run at full capacity, but should be offering help not suggesting its your problem now. Not sure what your options are to get get them to take him back, but others have given some good advice so far.

I think its natural to assume a rescue would have their animals best interests at heart and be able to trust their judgement so you're not a fool, but sadly not all rescues are equal. Perhaps in future spend some time getting to know how they operate first so you feel more confident in their assessment of the dogs and the support they offer post adoption. There are many good rescues about so would be a shame for you to miss out on getting the dog you've planned, due to the bad experience with this place.

I did see this rescue rewiew being advertised on forums a while back.

Not necessarily the worst idea in the world though. This is a 9 year old with severe behavioural problems and a danger to boot.

totally agree with you there, there are some dogs out there where this is the only option unfortunately

Ouch! That sounds like a completely irresponsible 'cowboy' rescue centre. It's in nobody's interest to lie so blatantly about a dog's background or behaviour.

I'd really urge you to name and shame once you have the situation sorted out.

  • don't to choose a aggressive dog or a giant dog to make tame in your house that would create problems for you. so you should try to have a kind of creed like looking cute and short in size in this way it should be easy for you to build love among you and you can better care of his and you can must feel joy. so try to find like this.

short joe, just because a dog looks cute doesn't mean it wont bite. When I worked in a boarding kennels, it was only a butterfly dog and a golden retriever that bit me, I worked with all the big 'ugly' dogs fine.

Pplease don't send it to the RSPCA,[/B] they will no doubt put it to sleep as soon as you have left .

That is just not true. Please don't say such things and put people off what it in fact a fantastic organisation. Perhaps they are different in different places, but out local RSPCA does not put down healthy dogs, in fact a friend of mine has adopted a dog from our locals RSPCA and he had been in there for four years.

ameliarate, sadly in many cases it is true, but luckily a few local groups are diffent.(worked in rescue for 20 years so do have some knowledge). There is a thread on here somewhere that acknowledges that some groups of the RSPCA do good work.

I could write a huge list of my encounters with them, from breaking my confidentiality when reporting someone, to having to threaten them with the local press if they didn't do something about an appalling situation that had been reported many, many times to them, including by the police on 3 occaissions. But I type so slowly it would take me hours and hours.
