cleaning the baby both ends!!!!!!!
- cleaning their little eyes and sweet faces, then freshening up you know what.....The most vital time to relax is when you don't have time for it.

Lillibet wrote:Hi Everyone
I have still got 3 months to go but want to start slowly buying/gathering the stuff & just wondered what tips people have beyond the usual stuff that the hospital tells you about? What quirky things & luxuries have helped on the labour ward & in the delivery room?
Cheers

I am no expert as i have not been through labour yet but i thought that this would be good to provide comfort. When i had pains in my back it was good as a support to lean against. It could be a good stress relief as it is like a bean bag so it has tiny little balls in which i love as it relaxes me Hope it is some use to you and good luck i hope things all go well for you.
May also be good for supporting you new bundle of joy whilst bottle or breast feeding as it moulds to shape (sorry don't know how to describe it, best to look at the pictures to get an idea)The best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. Back to hairdryers, Lillibet asking your midwife is a good idea, I'm only going by what it said NOT to bring in on my patient admission leaflet which has nothing to do with having babies. It said NOT to bring personal electrical items like hairdryers, any aerosols like deodorant or hairspray, or valuables like jewellery, mobile phones etc. The thing is that all electrical items have to be tested for safety annually - there will be a little sticker on the plug to say when it was last done - so patients bringing in their own plugs can't be guaranteed safe, and you can't have an electrician on call all the time to check them! With more and more prefitted plugs this SHOULD be less of a problem, although I know that years ago before they were very common Which did a survey and found that most people didn't wire a plug properly, and often unsafely, and even electrical shops didn't always do the job properly.
And aerosols can be both a health hazard and a fire hazard ...
Miss G, I agree the cushtie looks wonderful, and I saw one in somewhere like the Gadget Shop before Christmas. I nearly nearly bought one, except that I couldn't really justify it. It was addictively squashable and cuddly. However I note the cover isn't washable, only spot cleanable, which is a shame as it's very soft, and you'd definitely need to cover it for use when feeding baby ...
PS I also have a couple of microtowel turbans, just bought cheap ones from a £ store or somewhere like that. My hair is not that long now, used to be well down my back, wish I'd had them in the days when I had long hair! I do find them excellent: wrap my hair up and in a few minutes the towel is soaking wet but my hair is quite comfortable. It's also easier to keep one on than when you wrap a 'proper' towel around your head: that's quite heavy and tends to fall off and doesn't leave your hair as dry, minute for minute, IMO. PLUS once you are home you will sometimes struggle to find five minutes for a shower, never mind another 5 to run a hairdryer over your wet hair! So finding a way to keep it out of the way while your desperate baby eases the pangs of starvation - I mean you may have deprived him / her / it for all of 10 minutes! - would be a good plan ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi guys... CTG good today had more of "show" from sweep other day which may be a positive sign... will staypositive for tonight and tomorrow..... incidentally JAY-JAY I love your definition of sweep made me giggle
For you guys whodon't know its also called stripping the membranes......basically midwife gets further up than say a partner would and inside cervix and rotates finger/s to separate the bag of waters from the uterus  which sometimes tricks the body into thinking that the waters have broken.....
Any way enough of the tech stuff.... will keep you updated x"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...
until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it"
