If the money has been withdrawn then all that paypal can do is launch a legal action to recover it, but chances are that it has been set up with false details - very easy to do as discussed in another thread on MSE.

The buyers will receive nothing back as there are no buyer protection measures stated on any of the listings.

eBay must have a duty of care to highlight listings of a certain value without any protection measures??

It is no wonder people are scammed in their thousands on the 'bay!

I was in the process of setting up a new eBay account to buy up the rest of his stock - but by the time I cleared the verification process at 2.30 this morning, the blimmin listings had been pulled!!!

He was minutes away from a full sell-out and about 100 negs!

    dammit!

I thought this was "moneysavingexpert forum"?!

And that has what to do with anything? apart from nothing?
Not "letslookatscammersthroughrose-tintedglasses forum"?!! Too many people will have the same opinion as you, and they are now a few hundred quid lighter in the pockets!!
    !

Just in case you struggled to read my post even though you quoted it, all i said was it'd be difficult to prove if they were scamming or legit.

And since when did eBay need any proof of legitimacy before they pull a listing?? EBay ALWAYS shoot first and ask question later, the only variable involved is the time it takes from reporting an item to it being pulled.

If it was pulled in error, they will investigate and apologise (I have a number of (albeit semi-automated) emails to this effect!!), and the full reason will never be known.

It is a common trick that is used by sellers to eliminate competition though - too many people are fully aware of the ebay reporting system and use it nefariously.

One of the easiest ways for an "Expert to Save Money" is to be aware of scams and spot the classic signs of dodgy dealings - which has everything to do with this site.
Maybe in future I should encourage people to buy mobile phones from scammers, instead of warning them in advance?!
