aldi ash vac attachment sunday special buy

ok i dont own a stove and i dont know if this is any good ( you can tell im not a salesman) but just spotted this on aldi site and thoughht seemed like a sensible item to protect your expensive vacuum yet letting you vacuum ash wich from my limited experience is a pain to get it all up with abrush. any so figured would post in this section incase it was use to any one.

Just got one, no good for my Dyson cylinder but alas the hose from the vacuum cleaner wont fit in the round cylinder of this product due to a red release mechanism on Dyson where you attach tools. Shame it said popular vacuum cleaners cant get much more popular than a dyson

I've got an ash vac and i attach it to a "£20 special" from argos.

I wouldn't risk ruining a dyson or any other £200+ vacuum in case the ash-vac doesn't work properly.

Not sure if that is MSE or not but it makes sense to me.
The "£20 special" is also used on the car so it earns its keep.
  • Dont waste your time on a Ashvac. I bought the Aldi one a few months ago to give the multifuel stove a good clean out once a week but the paper element filter cloggs within half a minute so that the air suction is pathetic. I usually have to clean the filter but knocking against a fence post in the garden and then finish the job. I am talking here of a pint jugs worth of ash here!! Its just a messy pain to get in there with a brush hence why I still use it. I also had to use an old hoover hose that fits the Dyson handle and fitted the ashvac lid as the Dyson hose would not work.

I burn a lot of peat and ovoids which create almost talc dust, so maybe thats worse than clinker style ash..
