Not at all true. You can download media directly to the PB.

Forgive me if I am mistaken.

Unless living in the US/Canada... there are no video stores to purchase/download movies? I just gave my Playbook away, but the ability to download movies would have tempted me to keep it.

    How do you download movies?

I have my ripped collection in the Cloud. So can download to the PB from anywhere..

Have just sideloaded a few Android Apps (Kindle etc) to girlfriend's PB. She is as happy as can be.

That's kinda moving the goal posts... ok it's download but it isn't downloading.

I think the OP meant getting movies from other sources and keeping a copy. Which can't be done on a PB.

Also cloud storage is useless for the PB unless you assume the OP has 1: a 3G PB (which I doubt), 2: Tethered BB phone or 3: is in constant WiFi.

The OP also mentioned for viewing OFFLINE, thus negating cloud storage.

The first 2 are expensive if applicable in terms of data charges.

I would like to point out again you can not download movies for the PB outside of the US/Canada (as BB does not provide a library to purchase movies to other countries).

What are you going on about.....?? Your argument doesn't make any sense.
I download from my Filehost and on to my PB for offline viewing. I can do so from any HotSpot. Of course I use WiFi for large downloads. Who would use their 3G allowance to download films?
  • Add RAM. Make a copy of your important data(to external media), then delete some of the files clogging up the C: drive.
Then you can either run a Factory Restore or see closed for a comprehensive clean up.

Though it's true that the processor is relatively weak by today's standards(CPU benchmark of 430), the RAM upgrade and the clean up will have it performing better than new, for an £11 spend.

Have tried following closed's instructions before but found it difficult to know which things to delete. Is it hard for a non techy to add ram? If you think I'll be able to do it I'll give it a go when I get back home. Thanks for all the advice.

No, you'll have it done in five minutes.
