Sorry to say Katie I don't do Facebook games or competitions- maybe an FB friend could help.

I've just gotten off the phone with my best friend who has been having a bad time of it money wise. Her OH had a job pull out last week and they've had to borrow money from her mum to cover rent and milk/food for their one year old (I'm her honorary auntie). I'm not in a position to help them financially myself, unemployed as I am currently.....does anyone have any ideas about what I could do to help? I was thinking a little care package of dried foodstuffs/cat food but it doesn't seem like much

Any advice appreciated.

That is a shame for your friend Emmap. Really feel sorry for young people trying to make ends meet these days. Luckily my 3 boys all have decent jobs although DS3 only gets an apprentices pay at the moment . Can't really think what you could do. If the weather got better maybe organise a nice picnic in a park to cheer them up - feed ducks etc?

Emmap - Aww that's really sad about your friend. I don't know what you could do for them. It's hard when you don't have any money. I feel like I'm constantly counting the pennies at the minute. On the one hand can't wait to get back to work for the money but will be heart broken to leave my LO. I do mystery shops to earn a little extra cash and have a little treat as a few of them do a few pubs and restaurants, you don't get paid for it but you get your meal paid for. This month alone, I've had two pub dinners, got some earrings, 2 tops, toiletries, xbox game, money off groceries and earnt £20. I generally do them when I'm off into town anyways. Fair enough, the jobs will probably dry up for a couple of month once I've done them all lol It's good whilst it last. Maybe you could suggest something like that.

Sheils - yes, I can generally get a full shop at aldi. They do own brand muller corner yoghurts. Really yummy. Their fruit and veg are fab. Their own brand coke for 42p it's great tho drink fast otherwise it goes a bit flat. Almat instead of ariel works just the same but has more washes and is lots cheaper. Amaretto for £4.99 can't really taste the difference lol There are a few things that are better when its a brand name but you just need to give everything a try and not buy it again if you don't like it lol haha Aldi should pay me, I sound like one of their ads.

Katie - Is it affecting your play on FB? I thought the padlock just meant it was running off the secure Facebook site.

Thanks for advice sheils and Nicole. It's difficult as she's in Derby and I'm here but I've just sent her some info on 'healthy start' vouchers. Certain low income families can get vouchers to get free milk, baby powder and fruit and veg.

It's amazing what a bit of Internet research can do! Also, fingers crossed for some wins they could use!

Looks like it is going to be a nice day here - have the washing on.
DS2 got home last night. Look of him would have put anyone off booze for life.
I'm a bit late on the go today so must get the dailies done.
