Having difficulty typing this, there is a little dog wedged in between me and the arm of the sofa, I was here first, she jumped up and squeezed in :D

Been raining all night, stopped now and meant to be nice till tonight, so wm is on with the first of 2 loads.

My new blind for the lounge came yesterday, took about 10 days, so it had better be ok, its a made to measure voile roller blind, cant be doing with all the flapping of a roman one :o

Need to see dad later, made 15 jars of red onion chutney yesterday and the time ran away with me, so did not go.

Dropping dd at work in a while, dinner will be nabs.

Sunny here this morning, I've dropped hubby at work, put fuel in the car, found some YS cereal in the service station shop, the boxes were damaged, so bought it & dropped it off at DD's, added a slab of cooking chocolate from my cupboard, in case the cereal isn't nice as it's all basics range. The grandchildren all get generic weetabix for breakfast with fancy cereal as a topping instead of sugar.
Staff at work are dropping like flies, we have a vomiting bug doing the rounds as well as the usual colds & flu. Had a staff member complaining about the smell in my room yesterday, wanted me to open the door to the courtyard, I told her to stay out the room if it bothered her so much, it's the print chemicals, nothing I can do about it & it was far too cold to have the doors & windows open, silly b!!!!!, lol.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Redruby - which recipe do you use for red onion chutney please? I'm thinking it would be great as Christmas presents.

Hi Tiglath, it was this one:

    "Caramelised Onion Chutney

Onion chutney requires only a few ingredients - onions of course (any will do, but red onions give the nicest colour and sweet taste), a vinegar - sherry, red wine, or balsamic are all ideal, and brown sugar, together with some bay leaves and peppercorns for flavour.

Chop 6 large onions as coursely or finely as you like and heat with a small amount of sunflower oil in a stainless steel pan until they are soft. Add 3 cups of your chosen vinegar (or a mixture of vinegars) and 3 cups of brown sugar, and drop in a couple of bay leaves and 15-20 crushed black peppercorns. Bring the mixture to the boil and then simmer gently for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until the onions have gone translucent and all the liquid has evaporated.

Pour the hot mixture straight into small (200g) sterilised jars, seal, and store somewhere cool and dark or in the fridge. The chutney should keep for at least 6 months. To ensure the chutney can keep even longer (1 year plus), put the sealed jars in boiling water and simmer for 15 minutes. Line metal jar lids with greaseproof paper to protect them from the vinegar in the chutney.

Chutney should be left for 4-6 weeks to mature allowing all of the wonderful flavours to develop and mix."

I used mainly balsamic vinegar, as there is a shop near here that sells a big bottle for £1, but a mixture of both would be ok.

Not my recipe originally, I got it from on here, I think it might have been weezels. I multiplied the quantities, I had 2 small sacks of onions to use.

    xx

Washing on the line and DH has just got home from work.
No plans for today apart from DH and DS doing a bit of painting and DH wants to clean the carpets tomorrow.
I might make Nigella's cheesecake too.......Oh dear I can feel my hips expanding just thinking of it :p
It is said to be cold tonight so I must get a few more fleeces out and find the hot water bottles and most importantly my jammies and bedsocks ;)

Well, DD has done it again! Last Saturday I had to rush her purse to her when she was on her way to work and today she managed to hit a 'rock' on the road and gouged the tyre. Personally I think she hit the kerb!! Anyway I had to go for her car and take it for a new tyre, £65. The alloy is bent too but she will have to suffer that.

Anyway, been shopping too and took my car through the car wash (not OS I know but it's cold!). Have a bit of baking to do tonight for refreshments for village hall, there is a theatre group putting on a show and we may make a few pennies during the interval.

Washing on the line but the sun has just gone in, hope it stays dry. Bathroom given a thorough scrub but that's about it.

Have a good weekend. Take care. XX

Afternoon all, lovely and sunny here. Was awake at 6am, DD and BF were being noisy having showers etc: He has taken her away for the weekend for a treat. Got up at 7am and took dog and cat for their walk. Washing was put on line by 8 and then we went off for lunch to Monmouth and had a mooch round the shops. As we had lunch out (not very OS ) we're having sarnies for tea. Need to go and change beds. Hugs to all in need , hope everyone is having a good day.:)

    Afternoon all

It's been a beautiful sunny day here :) really warm in the sun too.

I met my friend for lunch and wander round the shops I bought a new jumper, scarf, hat and oilcloth tote bag (for college), all from Primark so only cost £22 for the lot :D.

Popped to Tesco on the way home for a few bits, and they were collecting for the local foodbank in the foyer. So I bought a bag of pasta and some UHT milk to donate. Not much, but better than nothing.

Need to go get the washing off the line, then will make a pizza topping sauce ready to eat dinner during Strictly.

    Have a good evening all
