Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Didn't resist the pizza last night so have terrible headache this morning. When will I learn? Bread results in headache. My friends children that I've babysat last night have been excellent, so I will be making pancakes for them this morning! Have washing to putout and then willbe spending the morning in the garden before going to see an Adele tribute this evening!

Morning all - I haven't had much sleep as one of the cats got into the bedroom and spent all night trying to sleep on my face, then running under the bed when I tried to grab her.

Yesterday's dinner was a fishfinger sandwich with ketchup. Mum's here for the weekend so I'm doing roast pork with all the trimmings tonight, and shepherds pie tomorrow. If I have any energy later, I'll take some books to Oxfam.

Found out last night that my birth mother has spent 10 days in hospital following 2 heart attacks and is also receiving dialysis. Wasn't aware of any of that before - I think she feels she can email me about things that she won't discuss with her own family, as I'm kind of one step removed.

Have a good day everyone :)

    Good Morning x
Just back from running 3 kids to work at 5.30, 5.40 and 6.30 am respectively:eek: Still at least they have jobs:)

We had an adventure last night as DD bus set itself on fire and it was pitch black and pouring with rain. I went to rescue her and ended up with a car full including two tramps who i think were riding the buses for shelter. I felt dreadful dropping them off at the bus stop:(

I have splurged on a Soup Maker as I hope to make fresh soups daily. Not very OS but am determined to improve my diet. I am hating all these seeds and nuts and they seem to hate me too:o

Hugs and love to those who in pain

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Beautiful blue sky, sun shining but very wet underfoot as rained heavily here during the night. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Had a change of menu plan last night, was going to be chicken curry but did roast chicken instead, we will have the chicken curry tonight - as this fits in with our plans better. Was reasonably productive yesterday, got jobs done in town, got home and on-line delivery driver rang to ask if it was convenient for him to deliver early - as I was already home waiting - it was suited me fine - so shopping delivered and put away then I was able to start doing some baking, so made chocolate brownies and some cup cakes. Garage door people came and replaced the door am more than pleased with the work they have done and they left everywhere really clean and tidy before they left, so hopefully that's another job sorted!

We're going to the next town this morning as boys both need new school bags, they didn't have new at the start of this term and now with the added bits they have to take the bags they have are breaking at the seams and zips - so need to sort this, will purchase some new underwear for me and new socks for DH whilst I'm there. Not intending to be too long as still have a few jobs to do at home that I want to get done this morning.

Have a good Saturday everyone x

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning everyone :)

Limit of my OS (if it can even be called that) is making packed lunch for us to take. DS wants to see where daddy will be working, am hoping it will help his eventual transition and knowing where H will be during the week. H is off to see a car first with my dad, once he gets back we shall get on the road. Planning on doing a scout around areas to get a feel for a few places.
Also need to buy a new kettle as the other one died, morning coffee was boiled on the hob.

No idea what will be for tea as have no idea what time we will be back :o

Normal service will resume tomorrow. Well sort of, shall be out for best part at party for DS and swimming lesson :rotfl:

Oh well there's always Monday ;)

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

PS. Those not FB friends with me......,I made nigellas Nutella Cheesecake. I can highly recommend it, it's heavenly :A

  • Good morning :hello:

Good wishes for people and pets who are ill and hugs for anyone who needs them. Prayers for little April's family and community.

The sun is almost out and the washing already is out. Big list of jobs to do today, sort out car headlights, couldn't do yesterday because of Co-Op bank problems; go shopping, couldn't do yesterday for same reason; make an attempt to tidy this chaotic house; try and make yoghurt again; drop boxes of books at Oxfam; list some items on ebay; sort out bits and bobs of wool for knitting a scarf as a Christmas gift.

I hope everyone has a super day :)

    Morning all

Bitsy - stop mentioning the cheesecake! :rotfl:. I hope your trip goes well and that DS likes OH's new workplace.

    Sun is shining here :)

I think I'm meeting the girls for lunch today, which will be nice. I have some bits I need to pick up from town. And then just having a cosy night in watching Strictly :j I enjoyed yesterdays show, apart from the fact that the spinning camera set off my vertigo :( so I couldn't actually watch most of the dancing :(. It didn't happen last year, or when I went to live show, so not sure why it's happening now. I have been suffering with it this week though.

I've done my first Milk&More order last night, to take advantage of the free £10 offer. Ordered Cathedral City cheese (350g), 12 loo rolls, loaf of bread, butter and 3 pack of kitchen towel, total cost £10.20. So not a bad stash for 20p! I did think lots of the prices were high though. Should arrive today.

OS wise - dishes to wash, WM to go a few times, need to hang my winter curtains in bedroom as I finally bought curtain rings yesterday. I think I'll attempt HM pizza for tea.

    Have a fab day all

Not been in/on (?) the daily for a while, hugs and kisses, congrats and sympathy to whomever for whatever I've missed.

It's finally a sunny morning here, got to do some shopping, clothes washing and cupboard de-junking today, hope I can get washing dry outside, too.

DH and DS now at work, littlies watching trash tv for a few minutes whilst I have a poddle round t'interweb. :D

Also on the cards for today is doing a decent meal plan; there are all sorts of meats in the freezer, some will stretch to at least 3 meals, so freezer stocktake will be part of the plan as well.

Will try to pop back more regularly, head not been in a good state and hard to concentrate, but onwards and upwards! :)

Have a good Saturday everyone, love to all, esp if you're having a hard/sad time at the moment.

    Morning everyone,

Tiglath Sorry to hear about your birthmother.

    Bitsy Mmmmm Cheesecake!

Molly You are a good mother doing all that running about.

Haven't been on for a few days due to being really busy.
Thursday was my birthday and DD1 and I went to see Sarah Millican in the evening, she was so funny, if a little rude at times!
Last night we had DD1s birthday party. There were 19 teenage girls in the house, fortunately OH, DS and DD2 were all out! It went really well and they all had a lovely time, they had made her a photo album with loads of pictures of them all in and all written in it, it was lovely.

    Today is quiet, hopefully!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
