HMV tweeted confirmation a couple of hours ago that the offer was genuine, they're probably just backlogged with all the orders. Here if anyone one wants to see the tweet

Wow, thanks for that. A bit odd though, all of HMV's tweets over the weekend were posted at 1am. That can't be normal:rotfl:

I was going to buy it until I saw that the OS is only 3.1 though. That doesn't upgrade to 4.1 I presume? I don't think there's any point in getting an out of date OS, especially as the latest Google Nexus or Kindle Fire HD are only a tenner more.

Guy tony on twitter asking about order placed on saturday and how long it takes to process. HMV replied that it depends whether its in stock - enough said then. It did give this email address to check though service@hmv.co.uk

Just called hmv and asked about my order and they told me that emails from head office will be going out later today confirming that this item is sold out and that orders that havent been processed will be cancelled

Aww nuts, that'll be me then. Mine still reading 'order not yet processed'. Boo! My husband got all excited when I told him about snagging this bargain. He knew it could possibly get cancelled, shame though.

Why did people's order status update from "awaiting stock allocation" to "order not yet processed" rather than just cancelling it if there wasn't enough stock?

I am not having a particular swipe at HMV, but why are stock control systems in this country so useless?
M&S are also pathetic..... especially during the sales.
Is it just UK companies who have such (r@p systems or is a decent stock control system an impossibility.
How difficult is it to set up a system where you enter stock levels of 500, and as and when they are ordered the stock level falls accordingly. Once all 500 have been ordered the item is shown as oos.
    How complicated is that ???????
How can they run a business when they have no idea what their stock levels are?
How can they maintain efficient stock levels if they do not have triggers - i.e when to reorder stock.
You cannot reorder if you do not know your existing stock levels are low.
I mean, am I talking rocket science here or what ?

Same when I go into a store and they haven't got the product I want - but they have no idea when they will get more in !
They say they have 3 more trucks expected tonight - but openly admit they have no idea what 'head office' will be sending them.

As others have posted on this grabbit, and on many other threads, it is the pure waste of time spent by customers ordering things (esp dozens of items for example in M&S sale) that drives people nuts.
Then to be waiting expectantly for your goods to arrive, only to receive sometimes a succession of emails saying various items are now oos.

    How inefficient.
Do the idiots not realise that it will affect future sales.
I for one never order from M&S anymore as my life is too short to waste hours trawling through their site and ordering items, for it all to have been for nothing.

All I can say is if their stock control system is typical of how the rest of the company is managed, no wonder they are in financial trouble.
How can they value their assets if they don't know what stock they have ?
    Beggars belief.
    Sorry rant over.:p

They probably just doing it to raise there profile, HMV are not exactly doing very well. Still we can always shop else where, it was worth a punt but didn't expect it to ever come off, personnel I rarely use HMV and this fiasco is a good reason why I wont in future
