You should not feel bad about this, they did not contact you in the beginning so do not deserve you at a customer. i also think you have been too nice. tell them straight and give them the reason and ask to be taken off their mailing list. My boss used them in a recent purchase and she was not happy with them either. seems you had a lucky escape0

I have his business card & number etc so if it don't stop I am going to report to their head office about it, & the FSA, and also see if my provider can block the numbers, as he's been rininging me from his mobile, an 0845 number, & also witheld. Worrying.
