water saving shower

I am with south west water and with a meter we are paying £70 per month on average. They have told us that this is the average for a family of six, well there are two adults and one 7 year old.
we don't have a dish washer, only do full loads of washing, no garden hoses, only showers, so really can't work out where this has gone wrong. THe only culprit I can think of is the power shower. However we turn this down to the lowest setting.
Can I do anything with this shower to reduce this as this is the only thing I can think of.
SW are going to send us a high level water consumption questionaire which I am sure will be 'fun'...
thank you

Take less or shorter showers?
More seriously though, you could try reading your water meter before and after a "typical" shower to get an idea how much it is using and compare that to your average daily use.
Edit:
Also, no need for two threads when one will do.

well I thought they were two different topics / questions.. though not the most exciting posts..
I'll do the spot check. To be honest I honestly don't think we take a long time in the shower. I am purplexed as to why the water bill is as high and this is the only thing that I can think of.. wondering if there were any models of showers that are low on water / shower heads etc. Are they gimmicks or do they work etc?0 -

Is it a 'power shower' i.e. pumps water at a high rate of flow from a hot water tank?
or
An electric shower with a cold water input?
Lots of people incorrectly call the latter a power shower.0 -
You can get shower flow restrictors (just google it), but you may find one inconvenient and spend longer in the shower to get a decent wash. First though, verify that the shower is your major water consumer.
You could have a toilet cistern that is never fully closing off or some other cause of water loss.
Check that you meter records no usage over a short period when you are not consciously using water for anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. A proper power shower (not an electric shower) will indeed use a great deal of water. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

yep they can use more than a bath

it is def a power shower eg from hot water tank. We turn it to the lowest setting and my daughter is too small to reach to do any thing else with the dial at the moment.. I will try and seek and perhaps try and audit where the water is going. Thinking about it cost and consumption are different and it could be the delight of just being a south west customer.0
