HELP with my boiler!

I am not nocturnal but i would like that option whenever you wake up in the morning and your flat is not freezing cold hence the timer of 7PM-7AM.
I'm sorry but i am not familiar with the TRV.0 -
But it's not necesary to heat it when you are asleep. The norm is to set it to switch it off a little before you go to bed and then on again before you wake up, so the house is warm when you do. Running it all night will double your gas bill, it's burning for 12 hours rather than maybe 6 hours. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I advised you how to set your timer in post 2, you have now been told again by Mac, trvs control the individual room temperatures, suggest you Google for how to set them,. You might need to buy a simple room thermometer to help you.

I appreciate the help. But my belief is if you keep the boiler (and the wall heaters) on overnight you would wake up NOT freezing before you go to work. That's my belief.
Before i go out for work i STILL keep the boiler on (set to the symbol of sink and wall heaters) but i turn off the individual wall heaters off anyway.
So in essence the only time i am "using" the boiler during the day (if say i'm on day-off) is showering or cleaning the dishes or doing the laundry.
Is that still not right?0 -
It may well be your belief, but it's entirely wrong, as several of us have already advised you. You won't wake up cold if you set the CH timer to come on an hour or so before you get up. The exact timing depends on many factors, just experiment to find the correct timing for your property.
If the CH timer is set to 'off' when you go out to work, then it's futile turning off the rads, as the boiler won't fire up anyway. The timer overrides any other thermostatic controls, be they TRV's or a room 'stat. You could set the room 'stat up to 30C, but the boiler still won't fire if the timer is 'off'.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Macman, if i set my heating to turn on an hour before i wake up then that mean i will have to leave it turned on the whole day which could mean i will be using more than i'm supposed to as it is turned on during the day. If say i wake up at 6AM are you saying i need to program the thing to "start" at 5AM? then if i leave my house say around 7AM do i turn off the boiler again as i think that is not about saving electricity. turning on & off a boiler i heard is bad for the bills.
I don't work in a monday to friday 9-5 office. I could have a day off on any day of the week. i prefer my boiler on and the wall heaters off during the day and the wall heaters on during the night. But at the moment the actual boiler is turned on 24/7 in case i need them but is only set to the tap and wall heating symbol.0 -

No, you set it to come on at 6am and go off at the time you go to work, say 9am. Then on again an hour before you come home, say 5pm, then off again before you go to bed.
Turning it 'on and off' via the timer is not bad for your bills at all, the longer it is on the more gas it will burn and the higher your bills. We are concerned with gas usage, not electricity.
I don't think I can explain this in any simpler terms...
If you are not at work on a certain day, you over-ride it as required, or use a more sophisticated 7 day programmer.
If the 'actual boiler' is switched off (i.e no power to it) then you won't get any hot water from it on demand. No free lunch, and no free laptop

FOLLOW-UP HELP!!!!
Went for holiday and completely turned-off boiler. Arrived back turned it back on on the "Timed" setting. I've waited but the wall heaters wasn't working at all. Fed up of waiting so i set it to the "Constant" setting. So, i just manually turn on the wall heating (using the side knobs) whenever we want to.
Question: Did i do it wrong or right? And will my electricity bill shoot up if it is in the Constant setting?
Please advice. Thanks.0 -
Its a gas boiler, why would your electricity bill go up?
Get a friend to come round and explain how it all works, as clearly you are not taking any notice of the advise so far given.
PS Get yourself a app for it!

YOu're getting totally confused about gas and electricity. It's a gas boiler so will use lots of gas and a tiny, tiny bit of electrictiy so it's gas you need to think about.
You need to set the timer so that heating and hot water come on an hour before you get up, go off when you go out to work, come on again an hour before you get home and go off when you go to bed. Outside these times if you're at home one day or go to bed late you can override the system and turn it back on, turning it back to timer when you're ready.
So for example set it on at 5am, off at 8am, on at 5pm and off at 11pm.
Does any of that make sense I wonder!0
