Apparently - - there is nothing in the cashback T&Cs (on this Quidco page) that excludes existing customers, and there have been quite a few reports from people who did get the cashback.
D'oh! I assumed it was new customers only and just converted our existing account (that we had opened fairly recently to get the £300 bonus for current account / savings account / mortgage, so I guess we haven't lost out too badly overall).

You obviously haven't seen or heard of the problems that people are having with this bank. They have more complaints about customer service than any other bank.

Actually I thought Lloyds held that honour

This is a completely meaningless statement, I'm afraid. For any statistical value, you need to know other metrics, such as
    • how many customers do they have (i.e. what is the complaints rate per 1,000 customers)
    • how many complaints are valid complaints (judging by the "I have been ripped off!" etc postings here on MSE, a huge number of complaints aren't valid)
    • what area/product the complaints are about
  • hiya this is my first post!
i have been reading the forums for years mopping up all the good advise and i tried to post a few times but for some reason i found it terribly hard to register to post on the forums, well i overcame that issue today! lol
Anyways me and my partner have just opened a joint 123 current account so i am looking forward to see how much cashback we 'earn' this month. i used to be with barclays but i have a big overdraft on that account and it never feels like i am getting anywhere in terms of paying it off because there is always more money to be used in it if that makes sense, so we opened the santander account in the hope that seeing money in the 'green' will promote us to transer that money to pay debt rather than keep spending! i was a bit worried about going to santander as i have heard some terrible stories but when i needed to call them the call was answered swiftly and we were seen in branch swiftly and the lady was lovely so i dont know whether we have just been lucky or not. i think all banks have there problems anyways...

  • :j Just changed my current account with Santander, to a 123 account & credit card. Did it in the branch, assistant very helpful, all went through without a hitch! which in this day and age of banking problems was a nice change. For me it looks a good deal!!

I have one of these great accounts, and so far I'm £29.04 up since opening the account in June.

Additionally, Santander guarantees to beat your car insurance renewal quote by 20% if you hold one of these accounts, and so I've just saved an additional £100 by switching car insurance to them.

Win-win, and no complaints to date.

"Subject to minimum premium" which is higher than my current insurance. So a lie !!

I am wondering if I should wait for the 456 account.:rotfl:or what about an ABC account. :D I like my ZERO account. However I might open a 123 account alongside but then I have to churn some money round from outside to meet the minimum payment requirement.

I worry a bit about security with this bank. A friend of mine has savings at this bank and as such he is on some preferred list for the 123 credit card and account and so on. Unfortunately for him some nasty crook has opened a 123 credit card account in his name and address and gone of a spending spree in all of about a week. It seems they have either intercepted his post in his locked post box in the entrance to his flat or in the post office and thus got the card and the PIN. First he knew about it was when the bank rung him up. He has had a nightmare to sort it with customer services.
