Intermittent problem starting car

I have a 2004 Peugeot 206.
Just today it started not responding when I turn the key in the ignition to start. No lights, no noise, no nothing :(. Not even an engine trying to turn over.
Looked under the bonnet - no signs of damp or anything loose.
A few minutes later, it starts no problem - though the date etc on the dashboard is flashing because it has unset itself.
It drives fine but after parking up just for a few moments, I have the same palaver trying to start up. It did this 3 times this morning.
Just wondered if anyone could give me an idea what it could be so that I don't sound totally clueless with the garage.
Cheers

Mine will turn over, cut out completely (resetting the clock) and then start fine after that.. If you do get any clues from the garage, let me know!
Good luck and sorry i couldn't be of any help :(

its probably a high resistance build up in one of the main leads connected to the battery
i believe theres a set procedure to removing battery on your car due to bsi sleep so might be best to let garage sort

As above. Check the battery terminals are tight.
  • As above, also check the other end of the negative battery lead (where it connects to car body) is tight.

Many thanks everyone. After all that it turned out to be a loose battery connection. Clearly I didn't check that properly :(.
    But how's this for service?
I managed to get it to the village garage about 3 miles away (where it died on me again). I live out in the sticks so they drove me home. Later that day the mechanic turned up with the car. We then drove back to the garage where I dropped him off.
Cost for all this? £20 :j.

To be fair they seem to have gone out of their way to help.

On a general note....... Typical Peugeot/Citroen electrical problems.
