Best current Broadband/phone/tv combos

Hi folks.
Moving into a new home next week, from past experience I know everything is slower without internet access, so it's a priority for me. Your help or advice would be well appreciated, and I'll chip in with what I know on other topics as payment.
First up, what we're after:
Line rental - happy to pay up front
Calls package - not bothered about this, mobile deal covers it
Broadband - heavy user so no DL limits, faster is preferred *
TV - living off freeview for years, it's fine although Sky/Virgin are attractive if the offer is good. Mostly interested in sport channels though, would only watch documentaries on the other extra channels (entertainment needs covered by BBC/C4/ITV). Would consider paying slightly extra in a bundle. Also do you have to pay for HD channels with Sky/Virgin? I get 3 or 4 HD for free on Freeview.
*In my experience living close to an exchange is a gamechanger. I lived 200 yards away in the last place and got good quality speeds from talktalk for 3 years. Now I will be 1-1.5 miles away (not too far though I reckon).
I was thinking of getting the talk talk bundle advertised on MSE though I've missed out on the love2shop voucher now.
-£114 line rental (=£9.50/month)
-£3.25/month broadband
-make do with freeview
Total = £12.75/month
Got to bare in mind I will need to have the phone line reconnected as well.
Anyone have any alternative recommendations? Are there ever Sky or Virgin or other offers likely to come around that round off at about £20-£25 a month in exchange for a serious upgrade on TV channels (other than more incarnations of BidUpTV and Babestation)?
Thanks!

I cant help but will be following this one as I'm in the same boat. I was also looking at that TalkTalk bundle but I'm hearing bad things about TalkTalk which is putting me off. 'Cheap for a reason' seems to be a term banded about.
Have you looked at the other TalkTalk bundle that includes YouView box? That looks like decent value - YouView looks like the future!0 -
Seems decent. Especially if you can get a 1 year contract and keep the box afterwards. Essentially there is only 20 extra channels which might be rubbish, but it's all about catch-up. Personally I watch iplayer, 4od etc with the laptop plugged into the TV, this is a more convenient version but also the hardware must have plenty of capability for the future.
One big question is dare I talktalk again? Customer service is painful though I try to avoid using it. But I got at least 18 months of uninterrupted service at 7 or 8 mbps minimum sandwiched between a couple of problems they attributed to BT.
Anyone have any feedback on talktalk's TV deals? I've never heard a thing about them.0 -
Hi JB005,
There is a number of discussion threads on the TalkTalk Members Forum with regards to the new TalkTalk Plus TV offering. These may be of interest for you to read (you can read the TTMF without needing to register)
In regards to service and support we do offer custoemr support via both the TalkTalk Members Forum and Twitter, which provides an alternative to taking time (and possible cost if using mobiles) calling the CS numbers.
Regards
Mark

There are no universal 'best deals', since broadband is exchange-specific, and we don't know yours. So the first thing to do is an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your available LLU options-you don't know yet if you are even on a TT LLU exchange. If you aren't, the prices you have quoted will not apply.
Is there already a working ADSL line in the property? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
