Co-Op Bank Few Questions

UnderPressure
Just opened a new Co-Op account a couple of weeks ago, first credit went in this morning, paid a couple of bills with debit card decided to check online banking to make sure all seemed well. to my surprise no money had left the available balance. Did a bit of research to find out just how rubbish their internet banking service is, bit miffed about this to be honest!
Anyway read quite a bit online and saw they were planning a huge upgrade anyone have any new on this? I cannot locate any info anywhere to say when this is going to happen?
Also mobile banking, only for I whatever or blackberry, come on now really? Android has the lions share of the market why oh why would their mobile app not support it! Any ideas? Anyone know of any plans to rectify this stupid ridiculous mistake?
Feeling a bit miffed about the whole account now, should have done a bit more research before I opened it!
Thanks in advance.

I dont understand why people are shocked. miffed how you want to put it, when you buy something the funds are still available. If the transaction was authorized does it really matter if the funds are still available.
They will get taken in time.0 -
In October last year I switched an account to them for the £200 offer; they were "testing" the "huge upgrade" back then. Not entirely surprised that they are still doing that TBH. I thought it was pretty much crap myself, so I stayed for the 3 months to get my money and then left.0

Co-op online banking is a little basic but it works fine for me,
Ok you have to work out whats left in your account, but if you want to check then ring up their very good telephone banking which is uk based and 24 hours a day.
It does however show payments in/out straight awayFor everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
After HSBC, I find Co-op bank brilliant. Maybe not as technologically advanced as the big 4, but who would want to stay with them??? I find co-op friendly, helpful and altogether making a refreshing change to the others. Uk based call centre people who are great, and an easy basic account, where I am responsible for keeping a check on MY outgoings, which is how to remain debt free! Waiting a couple of days for it to go through is no hardship against the benefits of banking at the Co-op.0

Thanks for the replies guys
I suppose in the grand scheme of things I can live with it, I was just a bit surprised more than anything at how basic it was, the terrible log in procedure and the lack of Android support for the mobile app. Hopefully all these matters will be sorted in time, in the meantime I will just have to be a bit more aware of what I am spending whcih will not do me any harm, maybe a bit of good!

What security do they use for internet banking? Card reader?0 -
I have recently opened an account with them, but will be closing it for because of the lack of live view.
The account was intended for food/petrol spending, so little and often. I really don't have the patience to keep receipts and add stuff up to work out the balance, and I don't want to have to call them or visit a cash machine to find out.
My nationwide balance is updated the instant I make a purchase. Even my pre-paid mastercard will give me an up to the second balance via text! As far as I can work out the coop text service didn't.
I tried to call them earlier to shut the account and transfer my money out, and can't as their poopy system is down!
Coop's suggestion to me, when I complained about this, was to upgrade my account to include an overdraft! The whole point of the account was supposed to allow me to budget better, not start using an overdraft!0 -
I have just been on the phone with these guys to be told there is a massive system failure at the minute and you can't log on to your account, make any purchases, take any money out of ATM or even get money out directly from a branch until this has been resolved, which I hope is very very soon!0

What security do they use for internet banking? Card reader?
No, the same as phone banking. The exact same questions and answers, and yes, the customer adviser knows what they are as you have to ring them up to setup your security details and are displayed on screen should you phone them with a question. So in effect, they could impersonate you via the online banking.
They do send a card reader which is "randomly used" when you setup a new payment, although I never used mine in the 3 months I had an account.0
