we bought ourselves one of these. works a treat. you can set the depth of slice you want. no more 'half pipe' bread

That's the sort of thing I meant my Mum has got. It's more bulky than a knife but is utterly reliable in cutting bread.

I use my very sharp Global G2 knife.

Electric knife user here too. Use it for meat and bread, have done since my hands because a bit knackered. Works wonders!

Electric carving knife, mine was about £7 from morrisons, never fails and can be chucked in a cupboard when not in use (blades go in their plastic sleeve in the cutlery drawer)
