O/S Daily Thread Friday 5th Oct

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 4th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All,
Wuvvies - Hope DD1 calms herself down and apologises to you x
JO - Best of luck to Ben
FB - Can't wait to see your Greenhouse ?
It's Fffffffriday.....woopety woop woop.
It's tipping it down here this morning urgh....
Today - Girlies to school, DS to MIL, then to my old lady, home to whip dogs out (not maud tho), then nip to town, home to sort mess out.
DD1's friend is sleeping over tonight so we're having southern fried schicken.
Have a great day xx

Morning all - wild, wet and windy here. For some reason I've got up early even though I'm not working today. I also just realised I served DH bacon, egg & chips for dinner last night and completely failed to cook anything for myself! I got distracted because a group of us sad old Goths are planning to see The Damned in December, so we all had a trip down memory lane to the early 80s.
Nothing much on the agenda today - a bit of shopping as Mum is here for the weekend, and general pottering about. I have some pork belly joints in the freezer so I'll do one of those tomorrow and something like spag bol on Sunday. I keep putting off sorting the clean laundry; it's not going to climb into drawers and wardrobes by itself. Think I'm due a return to bed first though.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull and raining and very wet underfoot here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, chips and beans for the menfolk, and I had omelette and salad. Tonight we are having chicken curry, with accompaniments.
Kept DS2 off school yesterday to rest his foot, but he's going back today, says he's much more comfortable already. He won't be taking part in any sport, games/dance or riding his bike for a while, so have arranged a lift to bring him home each evening as I can take him each morning. Had a good day yesterday, rang WM manufacturer who I have an extended warranty with as have noticed that the wash performance has really dropped off and some things are just not clean after a wash, and have awful mould around the door seal, and it smells awful. I wash a lot on 60 degree washes due to the menfolk being heavy on clothes, and never had these problems before and this machine has only just gone like it, lovely advisor said they could fit me in yesterday afternoon and was that convenient - I was home with DS2 anyway - engineer arrived and straight away said he thought element wasn't working, so all washes have been in cold water - he had the parts - new element and as the door seal was such a mess he fitted a new one of those too - how impressed am I! Also company rang to ask if they could come this afternoon to fit my new garage door, and so that's another job that will be sorted and out of the way. I was reasonably productive too, did housework, what washing, drying and ironing I could, there's still some left but not much so will crack on and get that all done today, will change beds too, also cleared my desk and sorted paperwork out and did some shredding. Will go into town shortly, visit the bank, couple little errands to do, then back home as have an online grocery shop being delivered and then the garage door people coming this arvo, so will spend some time cooking/backing etc whilst waiting for them later.
Happy Friday everyone x
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all,
Dull and overcast but not raining which makes a change.
Dh and DS off to work and college. I am taking it easy this morning. Had a dreadful night with my IBS last night. Thinking back I know I ate too much bread yesterday, I can cope with a little bit but too much sets me off. It's not been that bad for ages. To be honest nothing touches it medication wise so just have to wait for it to subside.
So won't be eating much today, and plan to stay in my pjs until at least lunch. Will do some food shopping when dh gets home with the car as we too have run out of all sorts.
Usually have steak for the men folk on Friday. Spoke to both my boys in Australia yesterday, they had been arguing about different things. I think Michael is stressed with the wedding coming up and David can be a bit selfish and single minded. Has no idea what it costs to run your own place. I would bang their heads together if I was close enough. Anyway they had a chat to their dad who told them to sort it out, at 22 and 25 they are both grown ups. They've had a chat and cleared the air, doesn't stop me worrying about them though.
Also caught up with DD who is fine and looking forward to meeting her new fellas family for the first time this weekend. It doesn't matter how old they get the worry is just the same.
Going to try and keep a cup of tea down now, have a good Friday all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Good Morning All
Redruby - thats ridiculous when we take on new staff we do have to ideally see a passport but if the person doesn't have one there are lots of other options.
BB - hope Maud is better today.
Horrible weather here today, at lunchtime I am driving to Portsmouth with DD for their Uni Open Day tomorrow, hope the winds don't increase or they will shut the bridge.
So totally no OS for me today  we are leaving at lunchtime and staying in a travel lodge (got a really good rate though :j) will eat out somewhere cheap tonight - will look at all the money saving voucher codes first then will be in the Uni most of the day tomorrow.
DS is sulking as he cant come and has to stay at home with this Dad :rotfl:
Anyway best get going, Happy Friday all.x0 -
Essex girl,
Portsmouth Uni is really close to Gun wharf keys, if you get a spare hour or two try and pop in, its a shopping outlet with greatly reduced prices, well worth a look xx0 -
Thank you, the lady interviewing dd told her that she could not even start the interview without seeing her passport, so I assume you would not be able to work ??
DD2 had to take her passport and something that proved her address when she went for the Debenhams interview , must be just what they do
miffy thankyou i will have a look and thankyou for the voucher code x
morning i had a lay in this morning and im still in my pjs
DD2 woke me to tell me of the 7 fish DH bought yesterday for his tank 2 have died and one has disappeared ! can find it anywhere so we will have to move the cabinet to see if it is underneath  i dont like fish at the best of times dont like to think they are escaping , the tank has a lid on but there is a 2cm gap around the filter in the centre .
WM is on , i have a new TD coming today i have been without for 2 years as we couldnt afford a new one , but i find it so difficult to get things dry at this time of year i have had to save for one . i hope it doesnt affect the leccy bill too much
macaroni cheese for tea with crusty bread
have a good day all xx0
