well apart from the size difference no and its extremly easy you just right click and send to - the drive (that your memory stick is ) but if she wants to free up space on the laptop your better of looking at a portable hard drive

Could she not transfer the data to the stick and delete the documents on the laptop to lighten the load?

yes she could - but,as Jamie said, (and especially if they are important docs) you WOULD be better off with an external hard drive; I have known sticks become corrupted; they're not ideal for long term storage, really.
    Or you could 'cloud' them.

Worth noting that external herd drives are just as likely to stop working as memory sticks, in my experience more so.

If the data/information is of serious worth to you then I would consider using wither two sticks or two drives.
