Mice at work dropping on my desk

I wouldn't care who's responsibility it was or whether I was allowed, I would have my antibac and cloths smuggled in my handbag and would not be sitting down until the desk and environs were completely cleaned. It's my health!!0

Never mind an anti-bac wipe, the furniture should be properly cleaned and then disinfected before the start of each workday.
And one trap will not get rid of a mouse infestation.
Your employer must carry out a risk assessment and if there are more than 5 employees this must be documented.

If they're focussed on one area of the office, I'd ask myself 'why?' We have had some mice problems at work, and if people didn't leave so much food around and crumbs all over their desks, the little visitors would move on!Signature removed for peace of mind0

We had mice at work, droppings all over the desk and sometimes they'd find food and trail it all over the place. I found a load of biscuits all caught up in my phone that had little micey teeth marks in them. We could also smell what we thought was a Pot Noodle for weeks, one day I told everyone to look under their desks in case someone had left their lunch under there; it was then I discovered the cause of the Pot Noodle smell which was a dead mouse under my desk. I called Premises Management who turned up hours later, it was one guy who came equipped with a tiny paper cup from the water dispenser and a massive black rubber glove that stretched right up his arm. One of my colleagues cheekily shouted over "eh up, your gynaecologist is here". How we laughed.
Anyway I would use some sterile wipes or spray if I were you, and make sure everyone knows to put any food either in Tupperware boxes or in their tummies as even wrapped up in a locked drawer is no problem for a mouse. Usually taking away the food source helps.
We had pest control in after that, the man insisted on showing me a handful of the mouse poo in my cupboard "it's green, you see they've been poisoned otherwise it would be black" and then nearly shoved it in my face. I have to admit after that I did inspect the poo for colour.
Gosh I miss working there.0 -
From a practical point of view , mice (and rats) will inhabit places where it is warm, dry, and there is a food source . if you are getting droppings in very visible places then it would indicate you have a big population of the little devils!
If the pest control are putting bait traps down that will eventually get rid of them but they will need to be re-baited every week for at least a month.
other things you can do : make sure all food is kept in sealed containers and in wall cupboards .(mice are very fond of chocolate and cake type products ).
empty all rubbish bins every night before leaving work , particularly food and paper waste.(mice love to make warm nests from paper).
clear your desk of all paper etc each night before leaving and
wipe all of the things on your desk down every morning before you start work , pay particular attention to pc keyboards , phones chair arms. (mice carry quite a few nasty diseases that are transmittable to humans). wash all mugs and plates and cutlery before and after use .
hope that helpsStarted my own business and loving being my own boss

Threaten the boss (and actually do it if need be) with Environmental Health Dept. Having mice in your office is highly unhygienic.
Mice spread all sorts of diseases, wee everywhere etc. They should be getting a cleaner in every day if necessary to wipe the desks AND supplying you with cleaner.
You should also not be leaving out food (like nuts etc) as some colleagues of mine in a previous office did which attracted rodents. You should also ensure all their holes etc are blocked up but can be hard to do as mice can squeeze in a space the size of a pencil (width).
I used to work in a street just off East End's famous Brick Lane and trust me, mice were the least of our worries (but we had them too), it was rats in the curries and I made the Rentokil guy who came round tell me which restaurants had an infestation or not.0 -
