An Astra will undoubtedly be cheaper for repairs. They're ten a penny so parts are easily available and cheap. I loved that about my old Astra. Even the tyres for it were cheaper than for other cars I've had.

    Eek .

See, I don't really know anything about cars.:o Apparently if the lights are still clearly visible then misting isn't that much of a problem unless it becomes alot worse but as I said, I'm not that clued up on car things. It's only what I've read from Googling.

We had an Astra before. It was a good car but it was a write-off when we aquaplanned onto the opposite side of the road on a corner then a car hit us (admittedly my husband's fault as he didn't know how to react to the massive river in the road and used his brakes!).

It seems like a good family car and has enough room for my wheelchair in the boot.

Apparently Signum's use the same parts as Vectras so don't have to be that expensive, but I guess at least we know what we're getting if we went with an Astra because we've had one before!

  • I think one of the reasons that DH likes it so much is because it would be the most luxurious car that we have had and ticks all the boxes

It could finish up as the most luxurious car you've ever had, laid up on the drive.
  • and an ever so slight misting of the indicator lights.

Have you asked yourself, where this misting is coming from?

Usually the water sloshing around in the bottom of them. I've had cars that have done that for years.

Every dealer sprays a bit of Gunk about, and tarts it up to sell it.
It just means you can spot the oil leaks better.
A bit of mist is the lights won't affect them.

We've decided to leave the Signum. It's not worth the hassle and I'm very suspicious about it all and the more DH thinks about it, the more he becomes suspicious too.

At least with the Astra we know what we're getting and DH is familiar with them. We know the running costs, insurance tends to be lower and it's still a good family car.

Thank you everyone for the replies. :)

ETA - The Astra comes with a new MOT and a 2 year warranty from the place selling it so it seems better all round, really!
